Everything was rockin' in the 80s.

    X-Men everything
    Simonson's Thor
ROM & Micronauts - the two best licensed books Marvel ever had. Yup. Better than Star Wars.
Byrne's Alpha Flight, FF, & Hulk
    Mantlo's Hulk was good too.
    Gruewald's Cap
    Cloak & Dagger
    Stern's & DeFalco's Spidey (& Kraven's Last Hunt)
    Defenders
    That Squadron Supreme maxi.
    Herc minis.
    Excalibur
    Psi-Force & DP7 from the New Universe.
    Strikeforce Morituri
Sooo much from the Epic line.

Sorry, but the New Warriors debut in the 1990s, not the '80s

    Captain Britain
    Amazing Spider-Man
    Avengers

I've been reading comiccs since the mid-70's, however, the 80's (especially the later half) was an awsome time to read comics. Both big publishers were really fireing on all cilinders. I'll even give a slight edge on DC over Marvel at that second half (and considering what Marvel was dishing out, that's saying a LOT).
However, if I had to narrow it down to just one, I'd go with my favorite run on my favorite title: Roger Stern on Avengers, especially after he was joined by Big John Buscema and Tom Palmer.

    Peace

I loved the mini series that Marvel put out in this time. I loved that they used the mini series format to give us a close look at heroes who were never featured solo titles, but were stuck as part of a team, guest appearance, or occasional lead story in Marvel Fanfare or other anthology titles. The minis I love include:

    Wolverine: by Claremont and Miller
    Hawkeye: by Mark Gruemwald
Hercules, Prince of Power: 2 minis by Bob Layton
Jack of Hearts: by Bill Mantlo
The Falcon: by Owsley (Priest), Paul Smith, and Mark Bright
Vision and Scarlet Witch: One mini by Bill Mantlo, a longer one by Steve Englehart
    Squadron Supreme: by Mark Gruenwald
    NIghtcrawler: by Dave Cockrum

And, while it didn't fall into the "give a team character a solo mini" category, I loved the West Coast Avengers mini by Roger Stern.

Most of these have been collected, but I'm still waiting on the Jack of Hearts collection.

Probably Walt Simonson's run on Thor.
