I feel like there was absolutely no way Eris was going to appear in a Wonder Woman film before either Cheetah or Circe.

With the whole recommendations for Cheetah. If they do an origin movie what storyline would you want to go if they go with Barbara
If they do use Eris I hope they'll make her interesting. Like Hercules: TLJ sort of interesting, where she 1: doesn't die, like ever, and 2 typically engages in direct confrontation as a way to distract the hero while her minions accomplish some nefarious objective. Yeah, that's how to be a hard-core bad-ass supervillain; protect your lackeys from the hero!
Barbara Ann Minerva is a respected and ambitious archaeologist who specialises in researching and finding ancient, mystical and magical artefacts.
Barbara and Diana have been working together over the course of many years to locate and neutralise various artefacts that could be used by evil doers for evil purposes. But, over time, Barbara has grown jealous of Diana's powers and immortality. Barbara is growing older while Diana doesn't age. Barbara gets into scrapes on their adventures and Diana has had to save her many times. Diana is unaware of Barbara's resentment because she only sees the best in Barbara. But, Barbara's jealousy is growing. It's also not entirely selfish - Barbara knows that she does good and valuable work and she wants to be able to contribute to her partnership with Diana equally (i.e. she doesn't want to be the damsel in distress).
Barbara is researching the Egyptian Cheetah God Mafdet and learns about a magical dagger which apparently gives its wielders the power of a god. Barbara wants the dagger and goes on an adventure with Diana to retrieve it, misleading Diana about the purpose of their mission. They raid some tombs, battle some baddies and retrieve the dagger. But, it doesn't do anything. Barbara is disappointed, but Mafdet has been awoken and Diana is struggling against her fellow god. Out of desperation, Barbara roughly translates some hieroglyphics and plunges the dagger into her heart which makes Mafdet disappear, but which will have lasting consequences for Barabara as she'll soon find out that she's become the avatar of Mafdet on Earth and that she's going to be corrupted by a wild ferocity and bloodlust that she'll have trouble controlling. Her jealousy of Diana will also be amplified and she'll come to blame Diana for what happened, even though Diana isn't at fault.
Or something like that.

It will be interesting to see how Cheetah and a returning Steve will figure into the Cold War plot. I feel like both of them conveniently fit with Circe (Circe's shtick with turning people into animals working perfectly for Cheetah and her witchcraft bringing back Steve to toy with Diana). But I'm stumped how they will work in this US vs. Soviet setting. Hopefully NOT in a "Winter Soldier-y" way.

I'm not too thrilled about the 80s setting, but it ultimately doesn't matter as long as the movie is good.
Plus, I'm getting Cheetah in a movie. The 80s will be remarkably easy for me to get over as long as they deliver on her.
And that is absolutely fine with me.
Wonder Woman flying (or not) has never been a thing that adds or detracts from who she is.
She is iconic for many things, but flying is one of those take-it-or-leave it things.
When I think of a flying superhero icon, with a cape I think Supes.
When I think of a dark and brooding superhero icon with a cowl, I think Bats.
When I think of a loving, compassionate superhero icon with bracelets and a golden lasso, I think Wondy.
They could make three Wonder Woman trilogies with a non-flying WW and I would not feel cheated.
I don't understand why Wonder Woman not able to fly is such a big deal.
