So why is Eric Young still champion?

"Impact on 5/15 did a 0.83 rating (lowest of the year) and 1.05 million viewers, about the same as last week. But that’s not a good thing, given last week’s number was against the first night of the NFL draft. This week’s show went head-to-head with a Washington Wizards vs. Indiana Pacers NBA playoff game that did 5.31 million viewers. Impact almost always does weak numbers against the NBA playoffs and at this point last year was doing the same kind of ratings. The show did a 0.60 in Males 18-34 and 0.66 in Males 35-49.

The show had a brutal ratings pattern, with an almost steady decline, opening at 1.03 and finishing with the Eric Young vs. MVP title match doing a 0.69. It’s a pattern that every time Young defends the title at 10:45 p.m., the rating is terrible. Just a reality that some people aren’t made to be in that situation. Once again, the idea of NXT as competition being the reason for bad ratings doesn’t hold up, as the hour head-to-head with NXT did a 0.95, and the hour unopposed did a 0.71, which may be the worst hour the show has done on a Thursday in prime time."
