my fav issue so far

ben and kaine's relationship felt..surfacey to me. i didn't feel thrown back into the madness of their past connections, the depth of it wasn't there. i expected kaine's reaction to ben's current choices to be more layered than just "kill" considering their rich past.

i haven't latched on to the support characters yet, but i expect PAD is going somewhere with characters like june (beyond a punchline)

I would've liked PAD to have Ben and Kaine acknowledge their past beyond just Clone Conspiracy. That is one of the weaker points for me - and surprising too, considering PAD is so adept at using continuity.

I wonder if that's a conscious choice PAD is making.

I kid, I'd be happy if PAD had Ben and Kaine hash out their differences for a whole issue, while working on a cure for Abigail.

More characters from Ben's past I'd like PAD to use if the comic lasts long enough:

Helix - total blank slate
Armada - can't believe he never got used again
Carnage - the most 90s character belongs in this book

I think if the book lasts long enough PAD will delve deeper into their past but right now from Kaine's perspective it is (or was up until the conclusion of this issue) a simple seek & destroy/punish mission for what Ben did during CC.

Before reading this issue I wasn't quite sure if Kaine realized the trauma went through with the multiple deaths but after this reading this issue it's clear he's not going to let Ben use that as an excuse for what he pulled during CC.
