Well, to be fair, he probably had the most exposure post-CoIE as a continuing member of Wally West's cast of supporting characters in The Flash as well as in JSA/Justice Society of America.
(And he is a cool character!)

That is very true! Wally’s Flash was when I was exposed to him and my affection for the character was solidified even more by the JSA run. I mean I love Wally, but Jay was definitely my favorite character when I was reading Waids run growing up.
Maybe one of these days we will get him back.

DC: The Flash (Jay & Wally), Starman- Jack Knight, Stargirl, & Shazam!.

I'm quite surprised that Wonder Woman comes in so low, and especially that far behind both Dr. Fate and Black Canary.

Why does it feel like déjà vu all over again?

And my reply from last month would remain the same.

Interestingly enough, the two members with the fewest number of votes on this poll (The Atom (Al Pratt) and Johnny Thunder (and his Thunderbolt)) are currently tied with 17 votes for each.

I voted for two members, who are clear standouts, at least in my mind:

    Sandman and Dr. Mid-Nite.

It might be a good idea to bring Wonder Woman back. I believe it hurts the team to take the popular characters for JLA.

My favorite character is Sandman (Wesley Dodds) But if they bring him back, the book should take place at 40s for sure. It can be like Legion of superheroes, you know. JSA is the heroes of past, JLA is heroes of today and Legion of super heroes is heroes of tommorow. I'm a big fan of Geoff Johns JSA but i would sattle for an orginal young JSA, if it's the heroes of past, if they are at 1940s WW II era.

When was the last time the original Black Canary made an appearance in the comics? Was it JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA (1991)?

Possibly, though her appearances in that series were during the 1950s.
Her death was part of the Black Canary origin(s) stories told in Secret Origins #50 (August 1990) and was also referenced in Green Lantern Quarterly #3 (Winter 1992).

I find it interesting that BC is in fourth place on the poll yet most readers would not have had much knowledge of her from the comics. So I guess she's getting support based on her more famous daughter. Arguably she was around on Earth-One for a long time from the late 1960s to early 1980s--and I do consider those stories to be the original Black Canary adventures--but thanks to that horrible retcon all those stories are put in doubt.

Wonder how many of those who voted for her even realize there had been more than one "Black Canary"?
