Default Justice Society Poll I: Who are your favorite Golden Age regular members?

Based on the characters that were considered members (not just "honorary members") who appeared three or more times in issues #3-57 of All Star Comics (from 1940-1951), who were your favorite members of the Justice Society of America?

    Choices are:
    The Flash (Jay Garrick)
    Green Lantern (Alan Scott)
    Hawkman (Carter Hall)
    The Atom (Al Pratt)
    The Sandman (Wesley Dodds)
    The Spectre (Jim Corrigan)
    Doctor Fate (Kent Nelson)
    Hourman (Rex Tyler)
    Johnny Thunder (and his Thunderbolt)
    Starman (Ted Knight)
    Dr. Mid-Nite (Charles McNider)
Wonder Woman (Diana Prince / later Diana Prince Trevor)
Black Canary (Dinah Drake / later Dinah Drake Lance)
No limit on how many you may choose, but you might want to try and keep it to no more than, say, eight?
(Seems like a fair number since there were eight members originally . . . two each from four different comic book titles.)

    I wound up going for
    The Flash (Jay Garrick)
    Green Lantern (Alan Scott)
    The Sandman (Wesley Dodds)
    Hourman (Rex Tyler)
    Starman (Ted Knight)
    Dr. Mid-Nite (Charles McNider)
Wonder Woman (Diana Prince / later Diana Prince Trevor)
Black Canary (Dinah Drake / later Dinah Drake Lance)
but Hawkman could have easily replaced Hourman or Starman on a different day.
As for Sandman, I would definitely want the original green-suited version (with the gas mask of course), not his later purple-and-gold phase.

I only picked three, eight seemed like kind of a lot. I went for Sandman, Green Lantern and Doctor Fate.

But you understand why I suggested people could choose that many, don't you?

    At last check,
    * The Flash (Jay Garrick) was leading with 20 votes
    * Green Lantern (Alan Scott) and Doctor Fate (Kent Nelson) were tied for second with 12 votes each
    * The Sandman (Wesley Dodds) and Dr. Mid-Nite (Charles McNider) were next at 11 votes for each

    I would go with six:

    Flash
    Green Lantern
    Hawkman
    Hourman
    Dr. Mid-Nite
    Black Canary

Six, because I would also want:

    Wildcat
    Mr. Terrific

    I went with;
    Dr. Fate
    Starman
    Dr. Midnite
    Black Canary

And would add various people not on the list, like Wildcat, Firebrand/Danette Reilly or the Earth 2 Huntress (Helena Wayne) or Robin, from that generation.

Jay Garrick during Mark Waid's run on The Flash is what lead me to checking out The Justice Society. I do have a question for you, since you seem to be the resident JSA expert
I have read both of Johns runs on the JSA. What other JSA stories or writers should I check out?
