Why Isn't Astonishing going back to numbering

With comics going back to renumbering you would think Astonishing would merge with the last volumes

Probably partially because they want to promote this as an individual, not-heavy-on-continuity story. Counting it in with previous runs would undermine the pitch of one big Charles Soule story.

And, also, partially because as word of mouth spreads it'll be easier for people to figure out how to catch up; they'd just have to go back to issue 1.

Each issue is going to have a different artist and it is only going to last 12 issues. So they probably didn't see the need to renumber it for that.
