    Default Justice Society Poll III: favorite members - JSA (1999-2006) additions

    For the third poll with members of the Justice Society, we're concentrating of those who first became members (with one on probationary status) during the 1999-2006 run of the title JSA.
    Choices for this thread / poll are:
    Starman (Jack Knight, son of Golden Age Starman Ted Knight)
    Sand / Sandman (Sanderson "Sandy" Hawkins)
    Black Canary II (Dinah Lance, daughter of Golden Age Black Canary)
    Hourman III (Matthew Tyler, andriod from 853rd century)
    Atom Smasher (Albert Rothstein)
    Doctor Fate (Hector Hall, son of Golden Age Hawkman and Hawkgirl)
    Hawkgirl (Kendra Saunders, granddaughter of Speed Saunders)
    Star-Spangled Kid / Stargirl (Coutney Whitmore)
    Mr. Terrific (Michael Holt)
    Dr. Mid-Nite (Pieter Cross)
    J.J. / Jakeem Thunder (Jakeem Williams)
    Black Adam (Teth-Adam / Theo Adam; probationary)
    Captain Marvel / Shazam (Billy Batson)
    Hourman II (Rick Tyler, son of Golden Age Hourman)

    As with previous threads / polls in this series, no limit on how many of these characters you may choose, but you might want to try and keep it to no more than, say, eight.

    As for the previous threads / polls:

    Yes and no.

    There were more than 15 members added during Geoff Johns' (and other writers) fustercluck expansion in the 2006-2011 Justice Society of America run, so I'd need more than one poll for that.

    FYI,

    Both Cross and the original (McNider) spelled it "Mid-Nite".

    The only one to use the "Doctor Midnight" spelling was Beth Chapel in Infinity Inc. (She died, but I don't know if that had anything to do with how she spelled "Midnight".)

    Yeah, that massive batch of characters really is a mixed bag. From the good (Tomcat, Starman, etc.) to the bad (King Chimera, Magog, etc) to the good characters that Johns changed and MADE bad (Judomaster, Damage) to my favorite JSAer of all, Cyclone.

    Based on the current poll results, most popular members seem to be:
    * Star-Spangled Kid / Stargirl (Coutney Whitmore)
    * Black Adam (Teth-Adam / Theo Adam)
    * Hourman II (Rick Tyler)
    with Captain Marvel / Shazam (Billy Batson) just one point behind.

    That's how awesome he is. I put him twice on my list. On a serious note, 7 was suppose to be Black Canary.

    I would buy a book if it were just:
    - Dr Mid-Nite (Cross)
    - Mr Terrific (Holt)
    - SS Kid (Courtney)
    - Hawkgirl (Kendra)

    The big standouts for me during this era were Black Adam and Hawkgirl, both characters drove much of the plot during this era. Captain Marvel and Rick Tyler were also of note to me, loved when Rick plucked Rex from the timestream. Billy and Court's romance and the judgemental elders condemning it for the superficial creep factor. If only they knew that Billy was really Courtney's age and not a potential subject for To Catch A Predator.
