Ray and Betty Carter
Oh sure you had to start a thread about jazz didn't you? Currently listening to Jeremy Steig /Something Else/ 1989/ LRC records/Sonny Lester producer. Steig,flute/ Jan Hammer e- piano/ Gene Perle e- bass and upright e-bass/ Eddie Gomez e- upright bass tracks 4 and 6 only/ Don Alias drums and perc. Mostly Steig tunes with a couple of co writes with Jan Hammer and one with Don Alias. Wish I could You Tube a tune for you but I don't know how .Very rare occurrence of Steig recording. Years between records for whatever reason. Not sure if available for streaming. LRS Records did this for CD in ADD format. Check it out. Melodic with a touch of edge on 1 tune.

About 25 years ago, I got to see Chick Corea at the Blue Note in NYC... I was less than 15 feet away, sitting at his 4 o'clock... so I got to see his hands playing... I realized that I could play 10 hours a day for the rest of my life and never be that good...
I grew up listening to fusion, like Return to Forever, the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Weather Report, etc... these days I listen to more Coltrane, Miles and Charlie Parker
I was into Benny Goodman for a while.
