Default Can you be ugly or full figured Marvel comics?

I mean is it a crime or something? I remember some characters that came out then became more "Hot" in their comic journey. I'm sure as a writer, the person has a lot of say on the looks of a character and what not.....its just I don't see any Main characters that aren't drawn like super models anymore really. Unless I read something with Bendis since he has a great range of non traditional "beauty" characters.

Even the X-Men put their best looking people on the forefront of their teams and pretty much all can pass as regular humans if they truly wanted. I get that almost every hero does a lot of cardio and intense exercise, but without a face lift or something can't they look kinda regular and not like a hot bodied pinup doll? Case in point:

    Carlie Cooper:

I mean she was just regular. Her "sis" Lily was supposed to be the looker, while she was the smart one.....I'd be hard pressed to believe that when reading the whole tattoo Goblin story (Lol so many people I know got that tattoo):

Giving even Mary Jane a run for her money.

There are many others like Rogue, Pixie even Jessica Jones get model level make overs. I can't seem to think of any male characters though for some reason.

    Any others?

    Then there was Angel Salvadore:

Full figured woman with a afro that put Misty to shame who turned into:

What the Halle berry is going on here?

Only if your male, and or a Joke character.

I've come to the conclusion that a lot of comicbook artist have only one type of female body they can draw and maybe three male ones.

    Most famous case of this?

Surely has to be Peter Parker. I loved the way Steve Ditko originally drew Peter, that put Peter's supposed personality over wonderfully well. But in process of making him more commercial John Romita started drawing him as an Hollywood star.

And good looking even by those standards...I saw film reviews that suggested Toby McGuire wasn't good looking enough for the role!

Oh yes!! I remember that Peter Parker was supposed to look like your average person.

Gorgon is a guy character that probably doesn't have the model look. He went from looking human looking with platform shoes to actually getting the Horse hoof look later on.....and a more monstrous face.

Beast has gotten uglier over the years. Spawn and Swamp Thing, the Thing, Hellboy, Jonah Hex, Beta Ray Bill. So the answer is yes, you can be ugly and be a superhero. Look at all the X-Statix. If you're asking why there's no fat superheroes, it's because being a superhero normally means being more super than Steve working in aisle 6. That, and artist normally draw characters aesthetically pleasing to readers.

This seems like such a weird question given how Captain Marvel sometime has a man face now, and how ugly everyone in Squirrel Girl comics looks

Do all the characters in the Squirrel Girl comic count as ugly AND fat?
