First one I thought of. Was pleasantly surprised to see it was still available... unlike my first four picks for LAST week.
You can find a bunch of books I wrote stories for here. The weekly column is here.

Reference to "Paul is Dead" perhaps? What a surreal time that must have been.

Yes, absolutely about the Paul is dead hoax.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Yes, but then so was pretty much everything else in 1969 - 1970.

    I buried Paul=cranberry sauce?

My younger brother and I during the late '70s must have played Strawberry Fields Forever a thousand times just to hear what Lennon was saying at the end of the song.

It's one of those weeks, again. I see an awesome cover and figure that's the one to vote for. Then another gets posted and I change my mind. Blast you and your plethora of quality covers, CBR contestants!

It's an album cover, not a comic. But it's by Barry Smith and fits the thread, even though it can't be an entry. So posted just for fun.

If it's OK to post a comics-related album cover as a non-entry, then let's be sure to include R. Crumb's famous 1968 cover for the Cheap Thrills album by Big Brother and the Holding Company (for which he refused to be paid, we are told, because he didn't want to accept money from Columbia Records)
