No problem, and I can certainly understand if someone doesn't want to read about their favourite character forced off-balance. My impression is that Tynion does so not to be edgy for edginess sake, but because it serves his story and gives him room for examining the character interactions.

There is also the fact that this is a team book, with primarily two co-leads right now. That almost always makes the characters a little less nuanced in their personality. But I have the impression that Tynion knows he is showing both Diana and Zatanna outside of their normal behaviour, and does so deliberately to further his story and to make them grow in appreciation of each other.

But in the end, it all comes down to execution and personal taste.
