So yet another example of a producer that runs in terror at the thought of making a comic book character look like what the character looks like in the comic books.
And instead thinks it's cool to make the character look like some homeless kid. Pass.

Even with that in mind I don't think it really fits her.

She looks less like Zatanna and more like a random girl John Constantine would probably hookup with (which, in hindsight, might explain a few things...)

It's not that I hate it as a design or as an outfit, but as a representation for Zatanna it just feels wrong.

Yeah it's fine as a general design, but I don't think that it fits Zatanna. It's too "makeshift" for her. Tattered pants, tattered/disheveled shirt (that's also a rock band one), etc. This is something that I could picture like Black Canary or Raven wearing as a casual outfit. Honestly, while I don't like it as her official costume:

I remember in the back of Bloodspell Paul Dini mentioned in his scripts that Zatanna's casual/public outfits should be somewhat "Bohemian" in style.

I feel like that fits better then a "Punk Rock" style.

Wonderful read, and love Z’s personality. But a large part of me thinks costume design needs a big revamp.. but to be honest I thing that about a lot of the classic DC female costume designs. Hawk woman being main exception.

I know I've probably missed the boat but what do people on here think of Mystik U issue 1? I'm a bit on the fence about it at this stage but it intrigued me enough to go and get the second issue when it comes out.
