I think it's because people usually associate magic or the occult with "goth" and "moody" nowadays.

It works with someone like Raven given her background and powers, but with someone like Zatanna, who's usually a more brighter and sunnier person, it feels wrong. At least in my opinion.

Completely agree. Far better to use a completely different character that use Zatanna like that.

I am in agreement with Frontier and JackDaw, that design does not really fit Zatanna's character. That's something that I could see Black Alice, Raven or may be even a retooled Traci 13 wearing but not Zatanna.

Anyway, I am looking forward to checking out the Mystik U.

I remember in the back of Bloodspell Paul Dini mentioned in his scripts that Zatanna's casual/public outfits should be somewhat "Bohemian" in style.

I feel like that fits better then a "Punk Rock" style.

I can totally see Zee rocking a bohemian style, far classier than punk goth. That's just not her character at all.

It's got the white corset, black pants, and arm fishnets that her New 52 look did but a blue jacket (Satellite era reference) and her top hat.

The costume is growing on me a little. It feels like she got the same makeover like Scarlet Witch. Ditched her costume for something more "casual".

I think this is going for a more "occult investigator" vibe, which I guess I can live with.

I hope for more traditional or typical Superhero stuff that she still uses her classic costume.
