I want to know why you chose 1990-1994 and not 1990-1995.

Why are these periods not consisent. Why 1980-1984? Why not 1980-1985? '85 and some of '86 are Pre-COIE-reboot DC even.
Things I love: Batman, Superman, AEW, old films, Lovecraft

Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”

I'm choosing 5-year periods, splitting decades in half.

The start of Robin probably is the best and the beginning of spoiler.

Even though it starts in 89 the bulk of the run is in the 90's so the "5 Years Latter..." run of the Legion of Superheroes gets my vote. It was just so far ahead of what was going on with the regular DCU books at the time. It was almost a Vertigo version of the Legion in alot of ways. Not "weird" Vertigo but more mature. Keith Giffen and the Bierbaums were on fire with this run. Issues 1-38 still stand as one of my favorite runs off all time for any comic.

Death: The High Cost of Living
    Sandman Mystery Theatre
Shade the Changing Man #33-up (the Morrisey-looking Shade era)
    Sandman #50

The last few years of the Giffen/DeMatteis JLI/JLE runs fall in this period, also.
