Some solid concepts here and I feel DC was possibly giving this line a "try out" before it ultimately went with Milestone.
DC has had a history of buying and integrating other comic lines(Captain Marvel & Charlton) as recently as Wildstorm also.
I was reading an interview with Strazewski and DC supposedly told retailers who were trying to allocate their sales, that the Impact books should be a last priority.

From the 'That's Why We Can't Have Nice Things' Department-

The 1991 Justice Society of America mini-series was a throwaway project done to give the artists of the Impact launch titles something to do while they were getting things prepared.
It also, inadvertently, re-sparked reader interest in the JSA at a time when DC was beginning to make sweeping changes to their titles towards a more 'serious' tone.

A new regular series was soon brought about due to the team's renewed popularity.
However... the tone of the series not only clashed with DC's new direction (and possibly threatened to undermine it) but Mike Carlin personally didn't like the book. So, their ongoing series was cancelled and the JSA would become cannon-fodder for Zero Hour to ensure such a thing wouldn't happen again.

Matter of fact, the series was cancelled at the same time as the first issue shipped to the shops.

Looking back, the dislike for the JSA series by editorial mirrored the resentment that had developed towards the JLI at the time, which was a top-selling book (and obviously not as easy to get rid of due to its success). And the changes brought about by the new directions in DC titles starting in 1992 and culminating with Zero Hour would ruin DC for me for many years.

Both series will come out as a Hardcover next year.

I might buy it, money allowing it.

    3 great Batman stories.
I really enjoyed the Huntress and was really surprised when it ended at #19.
Shade the Changing Man and The Sandman were amazing.

My LCS has started packaging up full runs of single issues and selling them collected. I bought these two series collected together for about $7. I love the JSA like nobody's business but Strazewski can write some darn boring comics. I couldn't even read them they were so dated. They harkened back to a time when heroes on teams were only distinguished by their differing costumes and one signature trait.

There's no team I'd rather be reading than JSA but these series' were a total bust for me. They didn't do anything for me at all. It was something like 20 comics all told and I blow through so much cash on comic books but I still had the feeling reading these that I wanted my $7 back.

    Different strokes...

If you could revive one title from this era that no longer exists, what would it be and why?
