Starfire use to be official height of 6 4 and than for some reason they starting making her official height 6 4. I guess she was to tall for Dick.

Those are the guides I use. But they were reprinted at the height of the super hero movie madness. So I don't see them as official guides for that reason!

Even though they're usually depicted as being just as tall, if not taller, than the boys .

Alien characters such as Starfire and Barda can be as tall (or as short) as their creator chooses for them to be. It would be completely consistent with their origin for them to be seven and a half feet tall (and with four eyes and six arms). "Human" super-heroes need to confom more nearly to the height and weight distribution of the overall human population. (Given Wonder Woman's non-human origin, she can be portrayed as being unusually tall, depending on how much clay was used in the baby's statue, I suppose.)

She's supposed to be 6'0" to 6'1". As someone that height (a little taller than the latter) I can tell you from experience I'm taller than most men and if Diana matches my height so should she.

But guys don't want to draw her that way so they chicken out because how dare a woman be larger than me.

Do any artists draw her as particularly shorter? I've never really thought about it before.

Maybe, but it's probably done that way to appease male readers (not me!) instead.

When was her height first given? I'm pretty sure her being taller than men is supposed to be a recent development. She's still fairly tall anyway.

For as long as I can remember in Secret Files and Origins books/supplementary stuff like DC Encyclopedias.

Diana was definitely shorter in the old days (it was also specifically in the golden age that the Amazons were slim and not muscly). Diana didn't used to have a large bust, either. I rather wonder if both height and bust came from Lynda Carter, but wouldn't place any money on it. Last I saw (early Rebirth) she was called 6'2" I do find that too tall as Amazons to me shouldn't be that extreme among humans. 6'0" is fine.

I liked the shorter Canary of the older days.

Raven was listed as 5'9" somewhere - seems like she was always taller than Gar, who's typically 5'7" or 5'8", I think?

Barbara was called 5'4" in at least one older story (the one with the advertisement for a roommate, I think). I don't know that I think she was drawn that short, but definitely shorter than the bronze age. 5'11" suits her well then, I think, as she was usually a hair taller than Dick, who was in college and adult height by then. I liked those stories, so liked that height.

Barda also shot up in height. She was 6'2" ish (or not much taller than Scott, anyway) originally. Now, there's no reason she couldn't be much taller, given her origin, but I liked the original stories and the original look.

Hard to deal with teens, as they are often ridiculously short. First Teen Titans is kinda funny for how they suddenly looked grown overnight.

But I will agree that comics have an overabundance of tall people, and it's more extreme with women than men. I do think it's for the idea of them looking visually "powerful."

I remember reading up reactions back when New Frontier was coming out of people drawing attention to Cooke drawing Diana as noticeably taller than Clark.

Carter was an influence on how Diana’s been drawn occasionally in particular when the show was one, and at least for some latter artists like Ross and Hughes.

I think that was roughly the height Yvonne Craig, the actress who played her in the 60s Batman series.
