New to comics? Nope. New to Thompson's writing style? Nope. I have been reading through the West Coast Avengers run. Didn't like it. I figured I would give Captain Marvel a chance. Start clean, because the character is starting clean as well. The character came off as likable. The characterization for the other characters was pretty good. Thor complimenting the villain on his clothing was strange...but whatever. It's not like I'm looking for perfection. Not going to lie, that cliffhanger feels me with dread. Hopefully Thompson wraps it up quickly.

It didn't really bother me. I think standalone issues are so rare these days that I just don't expect them. Spend issue one reintroducing Carol, then step into the action that will take up the whole 5-6 issue arc (or however many it is).

Cool, hopefully it won't be that long.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's only going to be 4 parts. The next arc will also only be 4 parts, ending in August.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the first arc wraps up with issue 5, the second arc is 2 issues, then that next arc is 5 issues.

But, to be honest, I'm really excited to see Echo there at the end. I know that has so little to do with everything else, but it's still cool.
Really enjoyed this first issue a lot! Agree with all the above and as a Daredevil fan I am very happy to see Echo as well!

Although my expectations for the movie as art are mild, I'm happy that financially it will do well. I can already imagine the excuses some folks will try to make for it's selling despite their predictions.

Picked up the first issue, and only glanced it over, but the art is beautiful.

The JL movie under preformed, but it wasn't a financial disaster. It opened really strong, but dropped off really quickly. Critically is was a mess but it wasn't the HUGE FLOP that some people want to pretend it was.

As was done for WONDER WOMAN, as was done for BLACK PANTHER. so tis dowe for CAPTAIN MARVEL:

    https://www.newsarama.com/43418-gofu...in-marvel.html

"Everyone should have an opportunity to see women in roles they can aspire to one day be, roles that show women as strong, smart and bold. From a teacher to a fighter pilot—or a superhero. This is an opportunity to continue to empower girls to be just that. Marvel Studios’ first female led film, Captain Marvel offers this type of important representation. We want to help girls from various backgrounds have the opportunity to see the film by providing tickets and renting out theaters."

Higher, farther, faster and it extends to ticket sales. So fitting.
