Hal's Jewish, in case no one noticed

Who was Katma Tui based upon?
The first Prime Minister of Israel actually. David Ben Gurion.

Not surprising since Gil Kane, real name Eli Weisz, was Jewish. But so was John Broome for that matter. And Julius Schwartz as well. I guess that about covers everyone involved with Hal. Lol.
My name is Wally West. I"m the fastest man alive. I"m the Flash.

While I know it has been sorta brought up before King's one-shot, that issue was upfront about Hal having Jewish heritage in-universe. I hope it's brought up again, even in passing.

Yep, a lot of the comic creators at the time were Jewish. From Siegel and Shuster to Lee, Ditko and Kirby, to Bob Kane and Bill Finger, to Schwartz, Broome and Gil Kane, etc. We owe half the comic industry to those gents.

Oops! Looks like Hal forgot his uniform when he went on GL duty!

So...that's where that water-head came from!!!

I find it hilarious how Sinestro's head changes with each artist.

I find it sad that fact is not promoted as it should.

Yeah, that makes sense. And kind of makes me appreciate the scene less, lol.

I actually love stuff like that. It might be one of the few times a GL scene can be topical with Ollie nowhere in sight. Plus, I always think 1980's whenever I see Dave Gibbons' art. I'm dating myself, obviously, but back then, kids were bombarded with PSA's, commercials, and a "very special episode" of your favorite TV series of the dangers of any form of substance abuse (and other social ills).

The way Hal handled it was totally superb, imo.

Let Superman bring cats down from trees.

I'm down with Hal saving folks from drunk drivers.

Seeing GL just patrolling the city, and not some alien world, seems mundane yet fantastic at the same time.

It also really changed when Johns was trying to depict him as almost more of an anti-hero then a straight-up villain. He somehow got in better shape and his head was smaller...

This would be a neat Elseworlds design for Hal...

I actually liked the Hitler haircut.

I guess his evilness depends on the size of his head.

I'm thinking Hal is just trying to cover up a bad hair day.

Very true. Also Martin Nodell should be mentioned. The creator of Green Lantern in the Golden age. Another Jew.

Speaking of Happy Passover to all the Jewish member on here.

I freaking loved the shape of Sinestros head in his first few appearances. It was so weird but so amazing at the same time.

It had the same shape as a sliver of a moon. Miss it.
