Nah, it's fine. I was just trying to help frame that up in the right way. You were totally on the right track.

Yet both problems aren't proportional, and what other point did bringing up that story have other than to somehow excuse what's currently going on?

More than 99% of these kids aren't kidnapped, yet ALL are being treated worse than your average person would treat an animal. There's also the point brought up about how this is PUNISHING the kids from being kidnapped or bought.

Germany Has a Neo-Nazi Terrorism Epidemic

When the German politician Walter Lübcke was found shot in the head outside of his home near Kassel on June 2, commentators were quick to assert that a right-wing extremist was the most likely culprit. Even the police seemed half-hearted in their calls for restraint in judging the motive of the crime, and the brief suspicion that the culprit had been someone close to the victim was quickly laid to rest. The unanimity of the official response, in one sense, was admirably forthright. But it was also its own national admission of negligence.

Lübcke, a member of the center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party, served as Kassel district president from 2009 until his death and had long been a figure of regional importance. Tributes from local papers emphasize that he was widely liked and had good relationships with his constituents. In 2015, however, he became a favorite target of right-wingers throughout Germany when, in the midst of the refugee crisis, he told an assembly gathered in the West German city of Lohfelden about the planned construction of a refugee camp, and he brushed away dissent by saying that Germany is a country based on Christian values, including charity, and “anyone who doesn’t share these values, anyone who doesn’t agree, is welcome to leave the country at any time. Every German has that freedom.”
So it surprised no one when news broke that Stephan Ernst, the suspect in Lübcke’s murder, had a history of racist violence and ties to far-right groups. The killing has provoked widespread condemnations of the ascendancy of right-wing terrorism in Germany; even traditionally conservative leaders such as Minister of the Interior Horst Seehofer are now saying that they need to play catch-up in the fight against the far-right and have promised to devote increased resources to policing right-wing terrorists. But critics say that the German state has a long history of ignoring reactionary terrorism.

Oregon governor vows to use executive powers for climate action after Republicans flee

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown said she is prepared to use her executive powers to take action on climate change after Republican state senators defeated a cap-and-trade bill by fleeing the state.

“Let me be very, very clear: I am not backing down,” Brown, a Democrat, said at a news conference Sunday, The Oregonian reported. The governor said that she still hopes lawmakers can reach a compromise but added she is prepared to use her executive authority if the legislature cannot reach an agreement.
After the legislative sessions ended last Sunday, Brown declared that she was not done fighting for the bill, which would have required Oregon to reduce greenhouse gas emissions below 45 percent of the state’s 1990 levels over the next 15 years, according to Reuters. The bill would have imposed a cap on the state’s total emissions and requires companies to buy emission allowances.

Brown said she hopes that lawmakers can still approve the bill and agreed to propose changes to the legislation that would meet the state’s emission reduction goals without hurting the economy, Willamette Week reported. That may be difficult after Republicans and industry groups fought hard against the legislation and demanded a massive overhaul to the bill.

American Billionaire Among 7 People Killed In Bahamas Helicopter Crash

Chris Cline, a billionaire who made his fortune in the American coal business, died Thursday in a helicopter crash in the Bahamas that killed all seven people onboard.

Cline, 60, and his daughter, Kameron, were both on the aircraft when it went down, Cline's attorney said. West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice tweeted late Thursday that "I lost a very close friend."
Cline began his career at a young age toiling underground as a coal miner in West Virginia, like his father and grandfather before him.

In 1990, he formed the Cline Group, which grew to comprise coal mines in the Appalachian region and later the Illinois Basin. Cline founded Foresight Energy in 2006. Nearly a decade later, the man nicknamed "The King of Coal" sold his controlling stake for $1.4 billion, Forbes reports.

In March, the magazine put Cline's net worth at $1.8 billion.

A prominent Republican donor and philanthropist, Cline contributed $1 million to President Trump's 2017 inauguration, according to OpenSecrets, a project of the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. It also lists Cline as a top individual contributor to GOP candidates in 2016.

U.S. Drones Are Way Busier Than We Thought Over This Shadow Warzone

When Houthi fighters blasted an American drone out of the sky in Yemen last month, it raised questions about what exactly the U.S. Reaper was doing there. U.S. officials say the drone was flying over Yemen as part of a terrorist-hunting mission. But that’s not the only thing America’s eyes in Yemen’s skies are up to. Over the past years, American drones have taken on more missions in the country.

U.S. officials tell The Daily Beast that American drones have been used to help warn Saudi Arabia about Houthi ballistic missile and drone launches at civilian targets in the kingdom; to monitor Houthi attacks on shipping in the Red Sea; and to support United Arab Emirates special operations forces pursuing al Qaeda targets. The U.S. has also offered to carry out drone flights to monitor a U.N.-backed ceasefire around Yemen’s Hodeida province.

It's not about "convincing" people of anything: it's about being honest about your chosen political party instead of constantly deflecting to "open borders" (i.e. fearmongering) and the like.

As has already been pointed out (repeatedly) it makes any "dialogue" with you essentially a waste of time.

Even this exchange is redundant -- you've already made exactly this same "point" in previous posts but it doesn't change the truth about said party.

But it's an incomplete argument about American politics if you're insisting on primarily focusing on the problems with one party, rather than what's going on in the country outside of partisan politics, to say nothing of the potential mistakes the other parties heading into the election.

The shortcomings of the Republican party have noting to do with the comments by a former Obama cabinet official regarding the border.
Maybe this might help. When the day comes that, once again, the Democrats are in control of All Branches of Government, including having a Democrat as President, then you (and the rest of us) can point a finger in that direction when something goes wrong or they do something wrong. I'm not just addressing you, but all Republicans.

Currently there is a 'So Called' Republican in the White House, and the Republicans control the Senate, and so on. So, why aren't you pointing a finger at them?

If Democrats are able to be critical of Democratic Leaders, when they are actually in charge and responsible, why is it so hard for you to be critical of Republican Leaders?

Is it Party Loyalty? Do you feel obligated to play Devil's Advocate even under the worst situations? Or do you truly believe that the Republicans are not to blame for anything; anything they do, or say, or simply any actions or inactions that result from what they do, or say, or don't do.

How hard it must be to be a Republican, to defend Republican actions.

I've been wondering if the census has anything to do with all of this. Trump has been losing the battle on whether the citizenship question will be allowed to be added to the census. I heard a story recently about how many immigrants, even those with green cards, said that they were frightened about filling out the census next year because they feel that their names would be added to some kind of list that would come back later and cause them problems. With the concentration camps, Trump threatening raids in sanctuary cities, and stories in the media about bad things happening to people who are here legally, maybe Trump will still pull some victory out of this because many are just too scared to participate in the census.

It's really just about diluting the populations of cities to reduce their electoral clout and gerrymander the Democrats into a weaker position. Since the GOP is incapable of winning a majority, this is all they have left. It really is that simple. Anything else will just be a bonus to them.
