Today comically the Detroit Lions decided to sign Johnson as a backup , even as they were working out Landry Jones before this. At this stage Josh Johnson has to be some kind of stupid signing wherever he goes. Because its one thing to not sign Colin Kaepernick. But when your actually passing on younger alternative who backed up Ben Rothlisberger for 4-5 seasons so you can sign Josh Johnson and tell people he seriously could be your 2nd string QB....its more comedy.

Look GM's in the NFL. Your not proving anything employing Josh Johnson at this point. Its more of a laugh we share. The Redskins became jokes and Mike Patricia your not Bill Belichick and gonna get gold from this.
Choosing Kaepernick over Josh Johnson would be idiotic of anyone. Kaepernick might be marginally better but he's going to bring a media circus wherever he gets signed. Kaepernick was garbage his last year and not much better the year before - 1-11 his last year, one win and ELEVEN losses. In his last game against the Bears Kaepernick threw for 5 yards in three quarters before being benched. FIVE. Some Kaepernick excusers blamed the weather because it was snowing. Across the field from him though was career backup Matt Barkley who managed to throw for a couple of hundred yards on an equally bad team.

His talent simply isn't worth the distraction the media circus brings. If had the talent teams would put up with it. Its why Kenny Stills who has kneeled since day one in support of Kaepernick got a 4 yr 32 million contract - he could walk on nearly any team in the league and be at worst the #2 receiver. Its why superstar players with domestic violence issues like Ezekiel Elliot, Tyreek Hill, etc don't get cut while backups with similar issues get cut and never heard from again. Its why Tim Tebow got cut because the cult of Tebow in the media and fandom created a media frenzy everywhere and no coach wanted to deal with a constant barrage of distractions of people wanting to know about Tebow. Kaep is basically Tim Tebow in terms of why he's out of the league. Well except that Kaep quit on the 49ers by not picking up his player option and then had his girlfriend self destruct his deal with the Ravens just as he was about to sign with them.

Kaep would also bring a fan revolt. The fans would come back if Kaep brought wins and playoffs to the team but how likely is that to happen given his mediocrity his last few years. So all you would be doing is creating a huge headache for the coach with all the media distractions and losing a lot of fans. All for a backup who isn't going to bring you wins and may not even see the field. Josh Johnson may not bring you wins either but he isn't going to cause a million stories about him and a fan revolt.

Lets examine this bolded statement. Your literally saying choosing a QB who last had a start in 2011 and had been on 10 teams before this and had been out of the NFL for 4 seasons before he was brought off a golf course would be better. Because only idiots would choose Kaepernick over him ?

Then you bring up Kaepernick's media circus...which well ; go pull up Washington's media circus for signing a guy who committed domestic battery last season. They sure seemed ready to excuse some good domestic battery here huh. But damn it we can't handle Colin Kapaernick's media circus because he took a knee ! A KNEE !!

Also here is a fact , that Chicago game wasn't Kaepnerick's last game of 2016. In fact your kinda wrong here as he started 4 more games and his last performance was 17/22 215 yards and 1 TD in a close loss to Seattle to end the season. Its clear Kaepernick was the best QB for that team in 2016. It sure as hell wasn't the guy behind him. Not with who he had at WR which I posted that both starters are currently out of NFL right now.

Stills signed that one and many questioned the wisdom of them signing him to that deal. Because beyond 2 big seasons (2014 , 2017) Stills is an average WR. Hell last year he caught 37 receptions for 550+ yards. WR's can be over paid and Sterling Shepard himself just inked a $42+ million extension as well.

Teams took various chances on Tim Tebow from what your not posting here selectively. He just didn't vanish out of the league. After NY Jets tried , New England themselves took a shot on Tebow. And the simple fact is Colin Kaepernick can throw the football. Tim Tebow can't. That is where this silly comparison falls completely on its ass. Because one guy actually can throw the football in a pro NFL game and the other couldn't.

Kansas City drafted a WR early in a trade up move to select Tyreek Hill's replacement. They were ready to cut his ass the 2nd the NFL laid down a suspension of it happened. Hill lost MILLIONS of dollars as KC will slowly decide on that $100 million at 1st they were gonna sign him to. Hill was days away and may have cost himself that pay day.

Kaep would also bring a fan revolt. The fans would come back if Kaep brought wins and playoffs to the team but how likely is that to happen given his mediocrity his last few years. Fans will go either way. The fact the same team signed a man who had a domestic assault and tried to excuse that as we saw is beyond silly. Who gives a **** if some fans get mad. This is about what is best for your team. The Redskins clearly lost and Josh Johnson is a joke at this stage. Its a joke...your literally trying to say oh sign the guy who hadn't started since 2011 and hasn't been in NFL. Because Kaepernick took a knee and some fans will get mad !

Because from a GM stand point , a football I.Q stand point ...Colin Kaepernick is a better QB than Josh Johnson. Sorry he just is. The Redskins deserved to lose for that silliness. Jay Gruden claiming Kaepernick couldn't run his system was such a comical lie as one analyst brought up that yep...Kaepernick ran that near same formations under one of his offensive coordinators in 49ers.

And no way am I saying Colin Kaepernick is 1st string starting QB. He's a guy you have as a backup due to experience in playoffs and regular season. He's someone who starts in an emergency as a backup. A good 2nd string QB. And lets be frank again...he's a way , waaaaay better QB than Josh Johnson, Hell there are a lot of backup QB's that Kaepernick is better than right now in the NFL.

Look. Every now and again a strikingly poignant and brutally salient point falls out of the message board sky onto the landscape and some thoughts and maybe even possibilities are opened that might not were not before. Laugh out loud (a little), the above is opposite of that but still, it happens and I've seen it and I'm not closed to it.

Anywho, so you know little of sports in general OR maybe that's too harsh. At the very least, very little of NFL workings to drop a Tebow here. Cult of Tebow sounds like something your heard on a cable sports platform 8 years ago.

Tim Tebow was cut, every time, because he was so bad at being a professional football player. Then he switched sports and then failed at that on a professional level as well. After that what is there?
Beefing up the old home security, huh?
    You bet yer ass.

It would be kind of fun seeing what Kaepernick might do if he suddenly is working for the NFL team with the most racist name possible.

Honestly, thats a distinct possibility. There are about three teams where he could make a big enough difference to do just that.

Drew Magary's about to bash his own team, it's Why Your Team Sucks: The Minnesota Vikings

    From Vikings Fans:

Ross: "The last time the Vikings went to the Super Bowl, the original Star Wars film was not yet released. Elvis, Bing Crosby, and Charlie Chaplin were still alive. The last person to be executed by guillotine in France happened 8 months after the Vikings made their last Super Bowl appearance."

Adam: "Because our vapid whitebread QB has a higher Sleep Number than QB rating in meaningful games."
Kelly: "I have had sex - from foreplay to orgasm - that took less time than it takes Kirk Cousins to release a pass."
Sam: "If Laquon Treadwell and Donald Trump have taught me anything, it’s that it’s possible to get your dream job despite having none of the required skills for said job."

Things are not looking good for Washington... they're still seeing starting LT Trent Williams hold out and demand a trade because he is fed up with the 'skins awful training staff, and now it seems their training staff also rushed Colt McCoy's return from injuries so he's not fulling healed from a non-serious broken leg from back in Week 13 of last year. Oh, and RB Darius Guice still isn't recovered from his ACL tear, if he ever recovers from it fully, Alex Smith is still missing all of this year from a catastrophic broken leg...

Which means they might have no choice but to start rookie QB Dwayne Haskins in Week One, without his starting RB, and without his starting LT to protect his blind side.

That above sentence is not a historic precedent for successful season in the NFL.

Between Washington's training staff operating like a Civil War battlefield surgeon, and the Giants having all their WR corps explode in training camp and early preseason, it's already looking like the NFC East is either the Eagles' or Cowboys' division crown to seize.

And the Cowgirls have their own problems with Ezekiel Elliott's holdout and Dak Prescott having taken leave of his senses with his outrageous contract demands. All my Eagles have to do is keep Carson Wentz upright for a full season and they could well run away with the division. Meanwhile, I'm surprised the player's union isn't screaming bloody murder about the medical malfeasance going on in Washington as that **** is endangering careers.

As bad as it sounds in Washington they traded for Case Keenum to be the starter awhile. Til Haskins was ready. They also resigned Peterson to a 2 year contract to handle the job due to questions about Guice's recovery.

I am now gonna joke and question what loser QB who last threw a pass in the early 2010's in a game or has been out of NFL for a 4-5 can the Redskins sign as a backup right now ? lol

Today's edition is up... it's a perennial 9-7 team... Why Your Team Sucks: The Tennessee Titans

    From Titans fans:

Andy: " - I literally picked this team as my favorite (even though I’m from Chicago) while watching the AFC Championship game against the Jaguars because I thought their uniforms looked cool and because I thought Jeff Fisher was a defensive mastermind. I was 12.

    - They’ve even managed to define mediocrity on Thursday Night Football. Their record? 3-6

    - Can’t wait for that 11-6 victory over the Jags in week 17 to cement their playoff spo....oh **** the Bills and Jets won their games."
Jeff: "I am secretly hoping that Tua gets hurt in September and falls far enough in the draft for the 9-7, playoff-missing Titans to take him. I am a terrible person. But that would be f***ing awesome."
Matt: "When a team with a notoriously meh offense that finished 29th in passing yards per game makes the big splash signings of Ryan Tannehill and Adam Humphries, it’s no wonder that the coach would want to cut his own dick off."
Drew Magary: "On the field, it’s been years since he’s been there and the face of the Titans is STILL Jeff Fisher. Go ahead and make all those 9-7s into 7-9s. Who’s gonna remember any different anyway? This is a franchise with the fewest highlights of any of them. They haven’t had a functional wide receiver in, like, 10 years. Their current receiving core is all made up of randomly-generated Madden clones. They will never use their running backs correctly. This is the shortest preview every year because I just wanna get on with living my life. "

    Future headline ...

"Today the Washington Redskins signed Matt Flynn to be backup QB. Jay Gruden was quoted as saying ; "Look he fits my system and can run this offense..." Flynn last threw a pass in 2014 season and has been out of NFL since 2015."

I so could see this happening and seeing Washington proclaim how he's a good QB.
