Default Grand Melee: Swordsmen of Marvel-616

Every sword-wielding hero and villain of the Marvel Universe (616) appears in the Khazan Arena for a grand melee. They battle until one character remains standing. For purposes of this battle, the term "sword" will include any similar blade weapon, including katana, scimitar, (EDIT: no foil) saber, and claymore. A character only qualifies if a sword is part of their standard equipment. Any other weapons from their standard equipment are disallowed in this fight.

EDIT: no cosmic beings, so no Red Shift.

I don’t know who wins but I’m pulling for Vargas because he takes being a peak human seriously, unlike some other losers we could name.

There's a Herald who runs around with swords.

So Wolverine giving-middle-finger modus operandi, count ?

Many artists don't depict Wolverine's claws as blades. They have sharp points but not sharp edges like a blade.

Even if that were true, wouldn't your own inclusion of foil (at least in it's principle use) contradict that disqualification then?

Not trying to cause trouble or anything, just genuinely curious how this plays out, and where lines are drawn?

Good point, a foil also lacks a blade. Let's exclude both foils and Wolverine's claws on that basis.

Nemesis (from the pages of Alpha Flight) is an interesting participant for this battle, because she has a monomolecular blade that can cut through maybe anything.

Ares uses a sword, does he count ?
Yeah, but if you... man, we're getting into weird analogy territory, like if you disintegrated Superman's arms he wouldn't be able to go "fool! Little did you know that my arms and I are one and can be remade from me!" and will his arms back into being from pure nothingness. - Pendaran

Yep, had him on my first list above.

Super Sabre is actually out. I barely remembered the character and assumed he had a sabre, but he's just an unarmed speedster.

Red Shift is the Herald of Galactus with a sword. Let's leave him out because he is so far above the rest that he makes this boring.

I mean Magik is as well.

IIRC, she killed Dormammu. Though that might be me mixing things up.

    Yeah, Red Shift.

Hard to think of someone who can outdo him.

Won't Fandral, Sif and Valkyrie have a unusually strong advantage over the other normal human swordsmen? Normal melee attacks won't affect them much and ultimately they would clean up the rest.
