Dead-on Deathstroke so far - he's pretty awesome.

Not so Dr Light - he's the Two-Face to Jim Carrey's Riddler - clearly the less important villain which is why they chose to make him act like a bit of a rube - or a powered henchman at best.(I doubt he's an actual doctor - despite the fact he played one on "Scrubs" ) I actually had to rewatch the jailbreak from last week because people were saying Dr Light showed up and I really had no idea that was supposed to be him. Between his look, the circuitry in his skin etc. I did not realize that's who that was. Or maybe I was too distracted by the actor having shoulder pads under his t-shirt. I mean really - he has light powers, who cares how broad his shoulders are?

I'm intrigued by Kori now that she' not amnesiac and they're not trying to force her into a thing with Dick. She might be the least like her comic book incarnation, but I'm liking her a lot more this season - especially her relationship with Raven.

Acting has improved across the board, imo, especially Rachel. I guess the actors are finally getting into their roles.

They’re writing this Dr Light like such a scrub, but then they give him incredible powers and have him fight off the vets. Then Jason can take him out on his own. Huh? He seems like a mess of a character, just there to make Deathstroke look good. That strikes me as a shame — he could have been interesting on his own. Instead, he’s like a refugee from the Flash show.

I did like that they gave him his head fin thing.

When Jason fought him, Light wasn't that powered up.

Also, it was a trap. I'm not sure Light was really trying, and Jason went all in so quickly the villain never had time to up his game.

I like throwing Rose into the game, but I'm not sold on the actress. As it stands, I'd rather see more scenes of Dick getting through to Jason. It kind of reminds me of the Teen Titans vs. Justice League and Judas Contract movies where Damien is sent to live with the Titans to get him under control and Dick is the older brother. I think I like Jason more this season because he provides more comic relief (an area where Gar is slacking).

Dick was my favorite character last season, but...I don't know, maybe he needs to be in action more? He's clearly done with the Robin costume, but if he's going to go toe to toe with actual bad guys, he should at least take some gear with him if he's not going to be Nightwing yet.

I for one am relieved at seeing a male DC hero with blond hair. If it's not going to happen with Aquaman, at least it'll happen with Aqualad.

Speaking of day jobs, it was odd to see Donna back in the life as her appearance last season made a strong stance about her doing more good as an investigative journalist than a superhero.
It feels like they did so much retooling between last season and this one that it's probably better to just forget anything they don't bring up.

That's another thing from season one that feels like isn't important anymore. I'm wondering if they regretted having Dick and Kory sleep together in the first place.

Well, Aqualad (kaldur) on YJ is blonde and Hank in this show is kind of blonde as well.

Kory and Dick sleeping together was addressed last season. They decided they weren’t in a good position and head space to be in a relationship and decided it would go no further than the one-night stand. The show isn’t being retooled at all. Everything you see here in this season is a natural progression from last season.

I was talking about live action, so Kaldur doesn't count. Hank counts, definitely, he was a blonde Aquaman on Smallville.

I feel like it's retooled in the sense that it has been given a lighter tone. There's less emphasis on how dark and violent Batman was and how that effected Dick (when we do see him talk to Bruce, things are pretty cordial) as well as Jason. They could've easily picked up on the thread that Jason gleefully attacks cops and that's why Dick wants to mentor him more closely, but instead he was thrown out of Wayne Manor because he rode a motorcycle indoors and downloaded porn onto the Batcomputer. They're also name dropping "Titans" much more this season than they did last, which paints Dick's past as Robin as more of a lighter superhero who teamed up with other sidekicks than a damaged teen who is now a directionless adult.

Having nothing really come out of Dick and Kory's one night stand still feels weird to me. It's early in the series' run, though, I suppose they can pick the plot back up later.

It should be pointed out that we were told Batman was dark and violent rather than actually shown it. The episode in the asylum also points to the fact that Dick was perhaps exaggerating Bruce's flaws to ignore his own issues. We also saw that Dick worked with other teen superheroes in the past and there was even a picture of Dick, Donna, Dawn and Hank together showing they were friends. These things didn't come out of nowhere and are not incompatible with the darker tone of the first season which isn't even really gone.

Was just about to say this. She's had the best improvement from season 1 to now. They're all doing pretty good but I'm much liking her a lot more.

Character work and dialogue felt a little weaker this episode though. Or I don't know, I just felt a bit bored watching it. Didn't really buy Slade as an intimidating figure (but I liked the "eye to eye" joke a lot lol), and Light is pretty boring. I liked that Dick's training came into play during the Todd v Light fight but I find it a bit weird (or just convenient) that blindfolded sword fighting is the only training we see the Titans do. I feel like we should be seeing them use hand-to-hand techniques and their overall training should be more varied.

Weirdly enough I thought this episode was gonna dive into flashbacks based on those spliced in quick shots, and I would have liked that. One of my favourite moments from season 1 was the young Dick and Donna flashback. But it didn't go there which I found disappointing. Anyway I hope we get to see Deathstroke doing some stuff soon. I want to see how he took on the team and him doing it again. Also found the action scenes this episode a bit iffy regardless of the training scenes (and I like Rose). I found it odd no one brought up the idea that Rose could be a planted double agent. It just seems too likely.

Okay episode overall. Hopefully it picks up again.

It's not like she was always orange any way.
    Kory didn't start off orange.
    She was originally golden.
She was referred to as the golden girl when she escaped from the Gordanian slavers in the first page of the first issue of the New Teen Titans comic.
    Victor even called her "Goldie''
Her brief boyfriend Franklin Crandall chalked up her complexion as being a Mediterranean Tan when he revealed to her that she knows that she's Starfire when Kory was living as fashion model Kory Anders who kept her Starfire identity a secret by wearing sunglasses to cover her alien-looking green eyes.
Roy called her "Tawny Vixen" when he surprise-kissed her
Dick referred to as gold-skinned alien when he revealed his decision to move into her apartment
In the last comic issues of New Titans run, her skin color looked like a golden brown.

In the show, she does turn orange when she uses her fire power.

I posted a lot of comic panels of Kory in the Dick Grayson/Nightwing and Koriand'r/Starfire thread in the Teen Titans forum at the comicvine site.

I created a thread about Dick Grayson/Nightwing and Koriand'r/Starfire. It is to acknowledge and honor their iconic and popular relationship.

I created a fan page about Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Mary Jane Watson. This page is for all the Spider-Marriage fans.

After watching the entire first season and these three second season episodes, I can say without a shadow of doubt: "Titans" is NOT a good show. But I guess we couldn't expect anything else from one of the guys responsible for ruining the DCEU.

Re: the latest episode, as I wrote up in a review for "Aqualad," you could definitely tell what was going to happen and where things were leading towards...and not just because it was a flashback episode. Let's face it: when it comes to superhero romance, when has one character saying "I love you" ever ended well.

I don't get why the Titans were so afraid of Doctor Light.
In present day Jason kicked his ass, in the flashback they had one fight with him and it wasn't even all that impressive.

Also I don't like Deathstroke's costume in this, looks too clunky and I don't get why there's a red light where his missing eye is, I can't imagine it has any practical use.
