It is funny how conservatives refuse to own up to what 40 years of tax cuts for the rich have done to this country. No matter how they fail, the solution is always more tax cuts.

Trump justy came to the Stage. I wonder what **** will come out of his mouth.

A problem with this approach is that doing the equivalent of expanding the likes of Teach For America and Teaching Fellows is mainly going to fill the teaching profession with people who have no experience and limited training. Teaching is a weird profession where the responsibilities are the same for someone in their first year as someone in their fifteenth, even if it's understood that experienced teachers are better.

Perhaps with this approach, some of the people expecting to go into teaching temporarily will find that they like it and stick to it, but it does also imply that an outsider who is just starting out as a teacher will fill the role just as well as someone who has been doing it for a while, and gotten the right certification.

There's an idea that the majority of education spending is local spending from property taxes and the like, but it is really messy and variable. On average, state sources provide more funding than local sources (However, that doesn't apply to every state.)

It's a fair point that larger companies tend to have more profit margins and steady income streams, so that many of these regulations will make it difficult for small business owners who often operate at razor-thin profits or even at a loss.
There is a flipside that many small business-owners also use it as an excuse to avoid paying people.
There are all sorts of consequences to increasing the minimum wage. It is perfectly reasonable to conclude that tradeoffs are worthwhile, but this should be kept in mind.
Some people will work less, now that their per-hour wages were increased.
You will have people entering the workforce who weren't interested in it before (IE- retired people who weren't willing to work as cashiers for eleven dollars an hour but may for fifteen dollars an hour.) They'll replace some people who currently have jobs.
Some people will leave the workforce, as childcare and eldercare become more expensive.
Some salaries will increase, to reflect that a job in some demand requires more training than the entry-level jobs that would now pay a higher minimum wage.
Some people will lose their jobs. Employers will find alternatives to keeping the same number of employees on staff. We'll see more things like self-check-out counters, or double-length buses. A higher minimum wage can also attract employees who are more productive, who may be a better deal for an employer who learns that it's better to pay two above-average cashiers fifteen dollars an hour than three average cashiers eleven dollars an hour.
There are some distinctions.
Obama made choices to have a low profile for much of the Trump administration.
He had served two terms as President, so there was no possibility that he could run again.
Someone who doesn't care about the politics could care about what's best for ratings, and covering Trump may be good for ratings.
Someone who prefers the Democratic party win future elections may conclude that it's better for the media to give an increased platform to a deeply flawed former officeholder with an approval rating below 40 percent. It comes down to whether you think the media covering Trump's speech makes it more likely that Republicans will take back Congress in 2022, or the White House in 2024.
Sincerely,
Thomas Mets
God, this Trump CPAC speech sucks. It’s no surprise but yikes.

I've actually know people who have gone through Teach for America intending just to do it while figuring out their next step, and actually came to really love the kids and decided to stick with teaching as a career. And honestly, speaking from personal experience, teaching certifications don't matter nearly as much as your ability to connect with your students and understand what they need and what you can do to help them develop, and that's something you can only really learn on the job.
Let's break this down. Anti-job? I think most unions would disagree with that. Anti-borders? Nah, just anti-Wall. Anti-science? This coming from the guy who refused to wear a mask until he literally had no choice? Anti-Woman? Let's ask Trump's two ex-wives who's anti-woman. Anti-family? Why don't we ask Biden and Trump each the same question: What are all of your children's names? and see which one answers correctly in the shortest period of time. I have a feeling that a full minute after Biden has given all of his kids' names, Trump would be going, "Ivanka, Don Jr., then there's um, I said Ivanka already, right?"
Watching television is not an activity.
How many years will it take before Trump is pretty much forgotten, at least as much as most other past Presidents? Any hope for that?
