first time i saw hal was in rerun's of superfriends. and i was really intrigued with his mask back then. (the fact that it covered his nose).

The mask was a key visual, for me.

I was intrigued by the idea that he was presented as the second most powerful behind Superman.(if not as powerful)

That could explain why I always saw Hal as second to only Superman.

GL was tanned backed then.

As a kid, that could subconsciously be another reason why I liked Hal. Sure, Black Vulcan was on the show, but that costume.....

Although as an adult, I fully appreciate the importance of never skipping leg day.

Not to diss Neal Adams, one of my all time favorite artists, but, it looks like Hal is sporting a 1980's jeri-curl hairdo! Otherwise, a magnificent piece of work!
