    Default Batman: Detective #1 discussion

So this is out and it does feel like a mix between mainstream and DKR Batman.

Overall I enjoyed it a lot and I'm glad that we are not doing some big mystery here. Sure, we don't know who is doing the bad things here, but we know what they are doing and thats a big plus for me. One thing thou, how the heill did Knight survive that opening fight?

I liked the gentleman ghost fight, I thought it was fun and made clear this is a Batman comic that will play with the dc universe concepts.

Yeah, not sure if it was a problem with the art or what, but that parachute was not opened enough for them to survive that fall.

oh yeah, no complaints, i like the art a lot. just saying that parachute was not partially-opened enough. (so more a "storytelling" thing than bad art).

I'm thinking more about what happened after it, to me it looked like the bad guy was executing her.

Just did some research and he made a lot of writers shine while the stories themselves weren't that great. His Batman works where the writing probably is best are Batman and Son, Whatever happened to the Caped Crusader and Batman versus Predator. If you don't own them already.

Batman vs Predator is pretty iconic, Dark Knight III: The Master Race is pretty amazing too even if Miller has lost his damn mind the art is beautiful

Miller being Miller is best thing about his work.

I just reread an old issue of Catwoman where Miller is advertising All Star Batman and Robin. It was not meant to be serious and he used the word babes. For me its Year One, then DKR not the other way round but those two and his Daredevil I will always be in the mood to reread.

Maybe it's because I went in with low expectations as Taylor isn't my favorite writer around...but this was surprisingly good.

The "Gentleman Ghost" was waaaaaaaaay too unrecognizable for my tastes, and how did Bruce happen to have the thing he needed to beat Craddock at hand? Had he anticipated he would be dealing with a ghost? (There's just so much planning ahead Bruce can do. Does he still also carry a canister of Bat-Shark-Repellent with him at all times, too?)

If it weren't for Knight and her new Squire, I'd probably skip getting issue #2.
