He passed away 2 years ago. And the show was DS9.

So I'm all but one episode from being caught up on Lower Decks.

The episodes are less "in your face" absurd than last year thus far.

I like how Boimler is back and at the same time, away.
Totally dodging how Shaxs is back from his seeming death in S1 finale has been fun.
Maybe I've missed it but I know firmly know the USS Cerritos is a California Class ship.

The Tom Paris episode was the right mix of guest star.
The Mariner/Tendi episode to get the Doctors family heirloom is probably my favorite so far. Until that episode I'd kind of just forgotten Tendi was an Orion. She was just becoming generic green skin alien in my mind.

So ... keeping with the Trek tradition of "skip the first season" perhaps?

As someone who is color blind, there are times where I forget that she's even an Alien. She is just pale enough that tricks my Red/Green color blind into thinking she's pink.

It certainly depends on why you didn't like the first season. If you found the humor off putting or were hoping for the characters to be more Starfleet-esque competent, you still probably won't like it. I enjoyed the first season, but this season has been superior. But much of that is due to tighter writing, sharper jokes, better defined characters. The show has not changed its mission statement since Episode 1, but it does what it sought out to do better.

I wonder if the general fan opinion of ENT improved since it ended.

Can't speak for all the fandom, but it hasn't for me.

I slogged through four years of ENT in real time when it aired, because I'm a loyal Trekker and it was the only thing on. Yes, it got a little better with S4, but.... ok? I finally brought myself to give it a full re-watch about three years ago, and it was still a chore to finish. I think it was just a squandered opportunity. Berman & Co. were running on fumes by 2001, and should have either done a VOY spinoff and stayed in their lane (the 24th century), or turned the reins over to someone else completely.

I always thought it was pretty decent, so no change there.
