    From 1001.
How many issues we got before she faints while trying to use her TK? We already got her yelling "SCOTT" so we know the other classic hits are coming.

X-Men Red's Jean bordered on a messiah at times. I enjoyed the book though it wasn't perfect, but a little of that also can only go so far. It was a better Jean than they've had in years, but if Jean was all things at all times then no X-Men mission can fail. And for dramatic purposes sometimes they have to.

It's not outside the realm of possibility to me that Jean could be blindsided during the Orchis mission, injured by an explosion and shaken by the deaths of her friends as she feels their demise one by one. That's exactly what happened and it could happen to any iteration of Jean, including Red. It's possible this is an altered or different Jean, but it's equally possible Jean (like everyone else) simply had it rough out there in deep space.
A POD Jean with the same pacifist error that the Chimaera's had got in Moira's 9th life!?

Wasn't that the point of the first teaser? They can bring back anyone, baby Havok, even three Wolverines at once.

Hmmm I’m skeptical that that Mark Brooks teaser is as simple as “they can clone anyone they want” because I’m also skeptical that the cloning will specifically involve picking different characters from different eras; I’m one of those people who think Jean’s characterization and costume in HOX are as simple as “that’s how Hickman wrote her” and “that’s what she felt like wearing.” And clearly there are plenty of people represented on the spread who are there for reasons other than present day cloning.

But it’s getting harder to see how *all* of the random things featured that we haven’t seen yet could possibly have a role to play in the remaining five issues, like Baby Havok, young Storm, roller disco Dazzler, Barry Windsor-Smith Weapon X Logan... so some of it could be symbolic of the vastness of continuity. But I’m skeptical that it’s all there because of cloning. One thing that I’m definitely still expecting, maybe spread through the remaining issues or maybe packed into one dazzling montage issue (HOX #5?) is a grand tour of what exactly Moira has been up to behind our backs throughout the history we know. I wouldn’t be surprised if it involves Weapon X, or Storm circa her picking Charles’ pocket. I would be more surprised if it involves disco Dazzler or the Mojoverse, but extra delighted if it does!

Or...more accurately...it's not the same writer.
Why do character-specific fans never account for different writers/stories/intentions?
For all we know, that's just how HiX-Man wanted to write her in that scene, for emotional gravitas...but it's not a pointed attack on Jean and Jean fans. Character-specific fans need to stop taking things so personally because the writers aren't writing/working for you specifically.

Because CHARACTERS SHOULD BE WRITTEN CONSISTENTLY ACROSS WRITERS. Why is it so hard to comprehend that?

If a character has to be written OUT of character to make the plot work, the problem is not the character. Writers should not be just ignoring a character's established personality or behavior just because they want to do something with them that the character ordinarily wouldn't do.

Agreed. Pick characters that fit the story you wanna tell. Don't just take characters and write them ooc to make them fit. It's like putting together a puzzle. It comes with the pieces that fit. Don't take a bit and cut on it to make it fit in the spot you want. We have thousands on X-Men characters, many who could use good spotlight, so writers do have plenty of options to chose from regarding their stories. But some only wanna use the same basic characters because they are "the ones who matter", and you get them written 5 different ways with different histories to make them fit in whatever given story at the time.

Writing characters "consistently" doesn't mean writing them exactly as Claremont wrote them ie only in bad-ass and powerful mode...and let's be honest that's exactly what you all mean when you say "consistent". Powersful characters can sometimes have weak, vulnurable moments that belie their strength...it's called three-dimensional characterization and every good writer knows how and when to use this. Even Claremont didn't write Jean...or Storm...or Cyclops...or Wolverine etc...consistently across his decades spanning runs. But wrote them as the situations dictated.

Agree. Many times characters are written OOC one time and it completely destroys them. Look for Hank Pym, a slap derailed his character forever

Exactly. It is not OOC for them to not always be at their best.
