Any fans of the late great Dick Dillin

Loved his art on Justice League of America. The man drew every issue but one (except reprint issues) over a twelve year period until his death. The writers threw everything at him over the years and he always came through.

Also loved his work on Blackhawks and DC Comics Presents.

Didn't like his art as a kid in the 70's but after I grew older, I learned to really like it.

His run on JLA was hella impressive.

I loved his work (especially with Dick Giordano, though Frank McLaughlin was also fine) as a kid and still do today. It was a sad day when he died during my favorite JL storyline of the Bronze Age.

After his military service in the Pacific theatre, Dick Dillin went to art school on the GI bill, in the 1940s. After that he got work at Fawcett and Fiction House and then went on to work for Qualty on GI COMBAT and BLACKHAWK, plus their romance titles. No doubt his experience in the army qualified him for the war comics.

When Quality went out of business, DC bought up their properties and continued the GI COMBAT and BLACKHAWK books. The now out of work Dillin was hired by DC who wanted him as the Blackhawk artist. Dick’s run on that title is just as impressive as his JUSTICE LEAGUE work.

He seems to have been kept busy just with BLACHAWK during his run on that title, but he did do cover art on a number of DC titles in that period. Afterwards, of course, he was the goto guy for all the DC heroes, while he was the JLA artist.

It doesn't even look like the same artist there. Dillin's work was so much more realistic looking by the time I was reading Justice League of America in the '70s.

He was a favorite artist of mine when I first started reading comics in the mid-70s. And he was THE Justice League of America artist hands down. Loved his work circa #100 thru the Englehart run.

It does my heart good to see that so many of you liked his art. Dillin holds a special place in my heart. I particularly loved his Superman and Wonder Woman. The New Genesis two-pager above with Power Girl and the Huntress was from his final issue before he died in 1980. He was great right up to the end.

Look at Zatanna! And Ralph with his stretchy neck in most scenes.

I believe it was Dillin's art when Black Canary first came into the JLA.
