DC will most likely be around in 20 years, but the way print media companies are going with everyone getting their news and comics for free....I think they will be struggling.

Particularly when the general public starts to tire of superheroes in movies and video games.

That being said, Batman will probably still be Bruce Wayne.

So objectivity from the source you're citing isn't something I'd count on.
That's your personal opinion. Scott Snyder stated clearly in the first interview he ever had about Jim Gordon as Batman that it was temporary. There's nothing to prevent John Ridley from saying the same, except that isn't the case. It's an objective source, it isn't lessened by your personal views.

Or maybe DC could have a new comic book with multiple people operating as "Batman" and call it:
    We Are Batman!

By the way, don't forget that prior to the New 52, when Dick took over as Batman while Bruce was thought dead (but was actually lost in the ancient past courtesy of Darkseid), Dick continued in the Batman role even after Bruce had found his way back to the "present" and resumed his Batman identity. (Though Bruce went globe-hopping to start up Batman Incorporated while Dick protected Gotham City when he wasn't on any Justice League of America missions.)

If you're responding to the overall debate going on:

    1. Dick's entire reason for taking on the mantle was predicated on the long absence of Bruce.
    2. Dick, as an established character as Nightwing, was never going to last given the circular status quo of comics. Nightwing was already his own hero who brought in good sales.

And yet, the last issue of Nightwing was cover-dated April 2009; Dick wouldn't get a new regular Nightwing series until about two-and-a-half years later when the New52 started. So maybe Dick was more valuable to DC as Batman than as Nightwing during that time?

And I don't care about your long-running "debate" here; I was replying to The tall man's post, not your numerous posts.

I think Dick was as valuable as Azrael or Jim Gordon. Once Bruce came back, we've seen how each of them lost the mantle. But his run did bring some long-standing changes like Damian as Robin.

An out of continuity book featuring all those who have worn the cowl might be a fun read.

Agree to disagree about a writer's objectivity when advertising his work.

This is easy. In the main continuity, it will always be Bruce as Batman. And, even in 2039, the "future" Batman will be Terry. This is how publishing works. If DC exists, Bruce exists.

No, because Scott Snyder was able to definitively state that Jim Gordon as Batman was temporary from the day it was announced. John Ridley isn't lying because you want him to be, plain and simple.

You really won't let this go, to simply agree to disagree? All I'm saying is that I personally, in my opinion, don't consider a writer talking up his project as fully objective, and that he has absolutely zero say in whether his toys get picked up when he leaves, and that this is my opinion and that you're free to disagree, sense for whatever reason you're very, very invested in Jace Batman being a permanent addition. And you can't just agree to disagree here? Look, you're not going to prove me wrong if you keep debating, this isn't a debate either of us can win. Only the passage of time will prove which of us has guessed right here - and as I said, I don't care, I'm disinterested in other Batmen as long as Bruce still exists. You're the only one here who has a dog in this race, I'm good just leaving this.

Jason Todd is the only one who should be Batman.

Why is it that whenever I make a statement someone thinks I'm joking? This is exactly why Dick Grayson should've died.
