Default Dear US Readers, Where Are You From?

As in where do you live now? Not where you were born.

Well, the US clearly topped the last thread so let's get more specific.

For the purposes of this one we'll break it up as below:

Northeast: Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware & Washington, DC.

South: Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas & Louisiana.

Midwest: Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska & Kansas

Mountain West: Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah & Nevada

Southwest: Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona & New Mexico

Pacific Coast: California, Oregon & Washington

    Alaska & Hawaii

    Other: US territories, etc.

Not a criticism, but I never have heard Texas being thought of as Southwest. Definitely south, but never west.

But I guess we are west of some people. LOL

South, right at the Florida/Alabama stateline really. And as much as the old Alabama incest jokes nagged at me in the media, the Florida Man meme is really, really, really wearing thin...

Well, Texas definitely is west of the Mississippi, and probably in most people's minds has more in common with Oklahoma, Arizona & New Mexico than it does with Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, and Alabama. Texas also didn't achieve statehood until much later than many of the states more towards the southeast.

It's grouped in the Southwest section of the U.S. for these purposes.

Heck, would anybody claim that San Diego, California should be grouped in the "South" with places like Alabama and Mississippi? But how far is San Diego from the U.S. border with Mexico?

I did my best with these regions using online resources and considering my Northeastern POV. I knew some would take issue with some of them. One resource had Maryland, Delaware & DC as part of the South. I couldn't bring myself to do that.

Well, Maryland is South of the Mason-Dixon line, but Delaware . . . WTF?!?

    Northern New England, here.

And yes, Dunkin Donuts is really as important to us as the media has portrayed it.
