The whole issue was that Peter was being too overprotective of her, preventing her or getting in the way of things she wanted to do for her job, which how it's presented in the game and the prequel novel is pretty understandable. By the end of the game, Peter learns to be more trusting in her work, and she also recognizes that she can't do everything alone.
