“Man-Batter Up” part one! Harley’s in a dark, dark place after the hard right turn her life took...so when the citizens of Coney Island say it was a mysterious “bat” that kidnapped one of her friends, she is not going to take it lying down!

Well the gang's all here - after it was implied last ish that they'd be leaving like the creative team that did. This was a standard adventure to restart things - maybe a bit run of the mill. The grimmer, scratchier artstyle was not as appealing as the standard we've grown with for the last 3 years. The main cover was good & fun art (with curious innuendo) and the Frank Cho variant is hot & funny art to start 2018. Let's hope this new take on Harley makes it to 2019...

‘Man-Batter Up’ part two! Harley was sure she knew who was targeting her friends-but man, was she wrong! Or should we say ‘Man-Bat, was she wrong!’? And if you thought Harley had anger issues before, wait until you see her juiced up with Man-Bat serum!

Huh, no Harley Quinn appreciation since last month?

I have not adjusted to the shift in art and thought HQ should have better mastered her batform psychosis. The cast should have been trimmed some with the changeover - as it appeared advertised as - because there were too many standing around. Not that bad overall but still felt somewhat run of the mill: the villain easily gets away and presuming Harley and Tony are permanently cured. However, the epilogue teaser with The Penguin's undisclosed scheme is intriguing.

I hope it’s influenced by the Palmiotti and Connor series. They got Sy Borgman. I always figured he sounded like Carl Reiner. Maybe they could get him to voice the character since he recently voice the Wizard Shazam on Justice League Action.

It seems like it's going to be a mix of the Karl Kesel and Palmiotti/Connor runs.

The premise feels more like the former while it will be including characters and designs from the latter.

Harley Quinn was apparently without a creative team in place but now that we know Tieri is not going to stay on the book it appears that Sam Humphries will be the official new writer for the book.

I liked his work on X-force but I doubt he can really hit all the right Harley beats like a Tom Taylor can

And I mean really Darkseid? You jump from penguin to Darkseid
I mean sure Harley has toonforce a lot of spunk but some things are out of her league

I found it very interesting that according to Bruce Harley has 4 phds, a surprising development given that pre-nu52 Harley was believed to have slept her way through college.

Morrison was the first one with a genious Harley but she went crazy anyway, still she was a genious.

Suicide Squad #39
"BREAK THROUGH THE WALL" part two! The government loses control of its new military weapon, the Wall, and he's rampaging through Washington, D.C. with his sights set on the Capitol building! Rick Flag is forced to turn back to the Suicide Squad to stop the Wall before Washington is in ruins!

The daughter in danger angle is interesting but the setup/battle to get there felt too lopsided and/or contrived to get there. June, Croc, and Deady will probably end up fine sooner than later. And poor Harley didn't have any worthwhile lines. She was fun on the cover but that doesn't really happen. And what did her reference/joke about the 2nd Elastica Album mean?

When Harley Quinn finds herself hammer-deep in a paranoid spiral, the last thing she needs is for someone to blow up her favorite bodega! Worse, the only clue she finds seems to indicate Harley herself was the actual target of the attack! What’s a girl to do when she’s pushed all her friends away just as someone decides to kill her?

So to simplify, Harley has 2 crazy settings. Fun Crazy and Paranoid Crazy. This story she is the ugly latter one and was run of the mill at best. There were ONLY 3 things to like about it were the covers - especially the fun Cho variant, meeting Iggy and Nina, and the quotable panel when HQ falls thru the floor alongside (the lamest Bat-Rogue) Mr. Pyg's victim named Frankie.

This book better pick up.
