Time-Displaced Dilemma

So we all know the O5 are in the present and some people, both in real life and in universe, want them to go back but what would that mean? The assumption at the beginning was that the Professor would just take their memories but after all they've seen and done, I don't think he would/could. Then we get to the issue that they've grown in experience and power (Angel even got an upgrade and Iceman discovered himself). And, of course, they all have the desire of NOT going through with what history says they will.

Basically, I don't see a way for them to go back that doesn't change everything in the present. At least, for the X-men line. So either they have no intention of sending them back somehow or Marvel is preparing for some new52 level change up.... or they could find some contrived way to send them back without any changes but that's no fun.

there are no consequences and they're not going anywhere... like how can people still expect this? We're going on the third relaunch with these guys. They're here to stay. They're "new" characters without the baggage. Which gives them the ability to write whatever they want without worrying about the pesky continuity and development thing getting in the way.

Wait, I thought when Cyclops vanished when young Cyke died it was established this was a closed time loop.

Or is this multiverse theory? Every decision branching paths....But they went into the future. wait...no...I hate time travel.

When Beast went back in time, he moved the 05 from the time stream essentially killing them.

The Teen-05 are not the 05 X-men but 5 teens who would have become the 05. That universal hiccup from Battle of the Atom...was....a....something, something.

The problem with BoTA is that it tried to have it both ways. It almost killed Tyke and that affected Cyke, but then they killed Jeen and it didn't cause ripples and then they tried to claim Jeen wasn't Jean with that later Brotherhood story and it's just a mess, especially with Eva's actions at the end of it all. Maybe we'll get explanations before the next status quo. Hank apparently did mention he went back and saw something, maybe the same thing Not-Dakken supposedly saw when he traveled, but bottom line is that they will probably remain around for a while. the whole they're the same person no alternate timeline thing was to sell the original volume. But clearly they just said "f-it" and kept running with the concept even though it makes no sense within the established rules.

Ah... Well, if that's the case -- then I have to point out that Xorna Jean (unlike teen Jean) had to have been from an alternate timeline because adult Jean of the present 616 timeline was already dead -- ergo Xorna shouldn't have existed if she was indeed Earth-616 Jean.

Even if she wasn't - Xorna was the future version, not the earlier one, so her vanishing wouldn't change things anyways. Now if the younger Jeen had died in BotA, then probably the same effect as when Tyke died would have resulted.
