I agree, I'm not a big fan of this character and as long as she stays far away from Logan the better lol.
So true such a great arc! The reavers fights are amazing especially the ones with Lady Deathstrike and the first two pages of the 7th issue are gorgeous:
It really doesn't help that the characterization of Wolverine's greatest foes such as Sabretooth, Omega Red and Lady Deathstrike have not been great those last few years, kind of miss the Tieri's days where they were hating each other but still worked together to make Logan's life a living hell.
Both Lady Deathstrike, Lord Deathstrike and their father Lord Dark Wind have so much untapped potential, they really need to give them a big storyline or something in order to make them serious players in the Marvel Universe. But yeah not a fan of what Pak did with her, Sabretooth or Omega Red, I didn't reconize any of them during this Weapon X series.
I just looked at the top 500 for May 2019 and yeah that's not pretty, but at least Savage Avengers did really well I hope the sales of the second issue will still be healthy.
Even if I enjoy this Infinity Watch mini (I still hope the last issue will have a big change regarding Logan's status quo and more focus on Logan like you said), it's just one mini too many. I mean in less thant one year we got 4 Hunt mini that proved to be useless, then ROW which was terrible and a waste of time and now another mini to finish a story that started way back in 2017 during the Legacy one shot that's too much even for diehard Wolverine fans (add the Hulkverines mini and that's even worse). Marvel got too greedy, people moved on and are now just waiting for the relaunch but to be honest, if no writer fix the character soon and if they don't have a fantastic creative team (with a well known writer and artist) and a fantastic direction for the relaunch, I don't think the numbers will improve that much.
Dead Man Logan is a solid title that features the best alternate version of the character. It's not the best thing ever but it has improved a lot since issue 6, the art is consistent and well Old Man Logan is back to the Wastelands where he belongs. Right now it's the only "Wolverine" ongoing worth a damn in my opinion.
Regarding MCP, this book was doomed from the start especially when the selling point was the Wolverine story but after what happened with Hunt/ROW, I think seeing Soule name attached to any Wolverine comics is a big "NO" for the majority of readers from now on, and honestly it's deserved after seeing how much he butchered Logan's return so yeah no wonder it's a flop.
Lol, you did well! Honestly that's for the best, DOFP and Logan were perfect ending for this cast of characters no need to bother with the other movies especially some of the prequels lol.
You started with one of the best Wolverine stories ever, so you're lucky! Rucka was good too, a shame the ending was rushed though.
The first two movies were good for their time but yeah I don't think they aged really well although I still like that flashback from X2 where Wolverine is escaping after the Wepaon X surgery, it's violent, short, full of mystery and I like the aesthetics.
Same for me I don't have a lot of nostalgia for the X-Men 90s show, the Spider-Man 90s tv show on the other hand now that one I loved it lol. But the best for me was the Batman 90s animated series, still incredible even today.
Ah yes I'm familiar with Panini publishing strategies, it has its advantages since you can read several series in one book for a good price as you said but unfortunately like a lot of anthology sometimes you only care about half of the book so yeah it's problematic lol. Importing physical comics from the US can cost a lot, that's what I was doing for a while when I started to read US comics. Like you I didn't want to wait until Panini publish the newer series so I started to import US comics but after I discovered Marvel Unlimited and Comixology I stopped. Now I only buy Omnibus or Deluxe from the UK (booksetc, bookdepository, etc...) or Netherlands (cheap-comics) so no import fee anymore and the prices are quite interesting especially during the big sales.
I'm optimist lol. I think 2025 should end the new "phase" (not sure if they're still using this term) of MCU movies and their new trilogies (Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Ant-Man, GOTG,etc...) maybe introducing the FF into the mix and both the New Avengers and young Avengers so no place for the X-Men lol.
Then you have the whole Disney plus thing, that they can use to give more background to several X-Men characters if they want instead of doing a big movie for each of them but yeah not sure if they're going to use the O5 but maybe a mix of the O5 and the Ultimate X-Men team similar to what they did with the Avengers. But one thing for sure, it will be quite some time before Logan's appearance in the MCU lol.
Cheers bub!
