It's kind of interesting that some other Trek productions say that First Contact didn't exactly fix all the problems right away. The Q trial scenes that bookend TNG are supposed to re-create conditions in 2079 I think, so it's obvious that mankind still had a lot to learn, or Cochran's discovery hadn't reached everybody right away.

I'm sad the Federation/Starfleet aren't being portrayed more sympathetically, forcing Picard to choose his rag tag band of sexy young people... but I'm really hoping this is fun, positive, and true to the ideals of Trek that were mostly forgotten in Discovery s1 but fortunately found again for s2.

Discovery's been solid so far and it seems like a passion project for Stewart so with those combined I'd stand by my statement that it has zero chances of sucking.

It's not that he aged. It's the make-up they used to try to make him look like he hasn't aged...yeeesh. Maybe it gets better after the pilot. *shrugs*

I never took that literally. I assumed she was "always there" in his mind as a be part of the Collective. Like a hub, or a administrator or something.

and also in Voyager (Although Susanna Thompson also played the Borg Queen, I think she was clearly intended to be the same as the Krige version-identical design and most of her alien traits are the same).
I think that's the case too. When Krige did come back to the role they didn't acknowledge any difference.

Yeah, Star Trek Enterprise mentioned that the last war on Earth was 50 years ago or something like that, and the ship launched in 2151.
The trial scene had Q say something like "there's no talk of United Earth here". It may not have been intended to be a proper noun at the time, but United Earth ends up being the name of the world government.

Starfleet as an institution is almost always an obstacle if not outright antagonistic to the heroes.

Supposedly he's less directly involved in this one. so let's hope.

I think it might be a digital effect they're using, but it's not very good.
