That Boy's Father isn't letting this go.
Good for him.

I'm not going to hate on Eddie or this movie cuz of course I haven't seen it, but the trailer makes it look like the return of "the magical negro"
Part of me hopes that Eddie has a romance or something with mom so that it's less of a typical trope
Mr.Church (who Eddie Murphy is playing) seems more like husband material to me. He can cook, plays the piano, and he appears to be well read. He's also appreciated by the mom and daughter. He seems pretty nice as well.
I could easily guess how he came to learn these skills.
I don't see how it makes him magical?

The "Magical Negro" is a movie cliche where the film will introduce a black person solely for the purpose of solving the white protagonist's problems. The character is wise and non-threatening and often non-sexual. Sometime the character will have supernatural powers but not always. The "magical negro" usually will be the only black person in the film. These characters aren't offensive in the typical way, but subliminally re-enforce the idea that minorities in movies exist to serve white people.

It's one of those things that you wouldn't notice it until AFTER you watched it.
Some are more OBVIOUS by the description like this-

Yes that is Tyler James Williams's little brother.BROCKMIRE (IFC) - Tyrel Jackson Williams is the latest addition to the upcoming Hank Azaria-led comedy, about a famed major league baseball announcer who suffers an embarrassing and very public meltdown live on the air after discovering his beloved wife's serial infidelity. He'll play Charles, "a bright but nerdy youth, the "internet whiz kid" of Morristown. Charles has been hired as an intern/assistant for new team sportscaster, Jim Brockmire. He's the guy who first tips the technologically illiterate Jim that he's a legendary internet meme."
You can make a case Tyler is on on Criminal Minds Beyond Borders.
Arjay Smith in Perception although they pretty much explain his situation and he's so smart he can teach Dr Pierce's class without trouble.
Cyborg in Justice League.
And in about time news-
Urban Prep will get talked about next month on PBS

The largely invisible and often crushing struggles of young African American men come vividly – and heroically – to life in the new feature documentary, “All the Difference,” which traces the paths of two teens from the South Side of Chicago who dared to dream a seemingly impossible dream: to graduate from college. Robert Henderson and Krishaun Branch’s determination started them on the road to success, but it was the support from people in their lives – parents, grandparents, teachers and mentors – that brought them to their destination.
The first in their families to graduate from college, given the odds against them – the average high school graduation rate for black males in Chicago is 41% – their motivations are quintessential expressions of the American dream. “I just want to make a positive contribution to the society I live in,” says Robert, who was just 17 months old when his mother was killed by his father as his six siblings were taken in and raised by their grandmother. Meanwhile, Krishaun, who, like many of his family members, was part of a gang, hopes to become a U.S. Marshal.
Both also had a key asset: the Urban Prep Charter Academy for Young Men, where mentors and teachers encouraged them not only to get through high school but to go beyond. And while family stability has not been constant, what remains plays a crucial role.
Krishaun chooses historically black Fisk University in Nashville, while Robert decides on predominantly white Lake Forest College, about 30 miles north of Chicago. And in the end, despite the hurdles, Krishaun and Robert succeed. Their emotional graduation ceremonies illuminate the significance of their achievements. They have not only beaten the odds, but have positioned themselves for entry into the middle class. And both have made deliberate choices to take jobs that will allow them to give back to the community. While Robert and Krishaun are focused on the future, they have not forgotten where they came from. They offer advice to other young men who might dream of following in their footsteps.
Emmy-winning producer/director Tod Lending’s film, inspired by Wes Moore’s bestselling autobiographical book, “The Other Wes Moore,” will have its national broadcast premiere on the POV (Point of View) documentary series, now in its 29th season, on PBS on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016 at 10 p.m. (check local listings).
Suicide Squad was NOWHERE near as bad as I had been led to believe.
The main problem is the villain.
The other problem is that they have commited to DC debuting Batman foes
before Batman ever gets a movie.
So every time they interduce a new character they have to have DCU guidebook
entry scene where they explain who these characters are.
And everything stops dead.
