    Default Favorite DC "alpha" hero?

Every hero can be admirable, but not every hero can be an alpha.

To be clear, an alpha hero is defined here as a hero with an independent origin, solid solo ongoing publishing history, a family of derivative heroes who were created to piggyback off the popularity of the alpha, a separate established supporting cast, an established rogues gallery, an established setting all their own, and at this point, some present or past solo multimedia success.

So, we're talking single digits in terms of actual number of true alpha heroes at DC. No potential, "if only DC would pull its head out of its metaphorical butt" coulda-woulda-shoulda-aint alphas, just the real deals.

So, of the obvious choices presented in the forthcoming poll, which one is your favorite?

And if you chose the "Other" option, please explain how said hero fits the described criteria.

Thought we were going to get to post about Marcus Aelius.

Green Lanterns Corps' Alpha is definitely Hal Jordan
Corps concept was introduced through him being chosen for the ring, and initially built and developed around him, with the others being the spin-off characters.
His unique origin was originally independent of the previous version, and specifically about him being recognized and chosen, as the embodiment of the brave honest power of will, everything the ring required. And he was developed independent of any other DC hero.
He had his own unique supporting cast, both on Earth, and then as they introduced the Corps.
And his own setting, on Earth (City), and in Space.
He had his own Rogues Gallery (although they've come to be shared by the rest of the Corps characters)

Although right now I'm really enjoying the SHAZAM! relaunch, so going with Billy Batson SHAZAM!
    The Alpha of the SHAZAMIly!

Swamp Thing is one other candidate for the DC alpha heroes. They have really everything but the derivative hero angle, but was at the heart of the creation of the Vertigo imprint.

I am going with Shazam! Because I can’t really think of a solo series of his that I have not enjoyed.

My favorite hero is The Flash but his solo series has been extremely hit or miss for several years now.
    AKA FlashFreak
    Favorite Characters:
DC: The Flash (Jay & Wally), Starman- Jack Knight, Stargirl, & Shazam!.
MARVEL: Daredevil, Spider-Man (Peter Parker), & Doctor Strange.

    Current Pulls: Not a thing!

There was that series that was about Swamp Thing's daughter.

For a very long time, it was Batman, but currently? Aquaman, definitively.

I prefer minor characters. Among these Batman is my favorite unless we can count Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner or Wally West.

Green Lantern (more specifically, Hal Jordan) has always been my favorite DC hero, bar none, so I roll with the emerald ringslinger.

Not just the rest of the Corps, but other titles, (Eclipso even got his own series) other heroes (Sinestro is in JLA even without Hal and his rogues pop up all the time even when there's no Hal or GL around) and media (Goldface was just on "The Flash")

Alos, the basic mythology that began in "Green Lantern" was the basis for "Crisis on Infinite Earths." (combined with groundwork laid in the Flash as well)

It changes based on mood. I went with Superman, but generally it's going to be one of the Trinity for me.

No one is more "Alpha" than Ollie.

Batman. The character himself is great, and his franchise has spawned more greatness than anyone else on the list, IMO.
