~Sometime after Slak's meet and greet~
Though it had slipped his mind at some point during the first meeting, the end of the second had brought a certain matter back to Kai's attention. Namely, that of the Dragon Balls and their obfuscation and defense.
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaah...
To be honest, the damn things really did seem more bothersome to keep around than not. Sure, the ability to get any two of one's desires simply fulfilled- no questions asked- was a temptation many would die- or kill- for, especially given how relatively straightforward (if not necessarily easy) the method of meeting the prequisite was even without the absurdity of a device that simply found them for you. But that, in itself, was the problem; something as powerful as the ability
to warp reality in two ways of one's choosing was, in theory and evidentally in practice, as simple as completing the mother of all egg hunts.
It was absurd- no, it was
infuriating.
Relatively powerless and inconsequential as he was, the idea that this world was currently in danger because some idiot thought granting wishes to anyone capable of finding seven little balls, a thing which was apparently now as easy as simply spending a bit of effort, money, and time to dig them up...
Well, to say that he wanted to tear his way to and through the heavens, rend them from the sky, and slaughter the gods that lived there, just so there would be no hope or recourse for the one responsible when he came for them would be an excessive exaggeration.
What
wasn't an exaggeration- excessive or otherwise- was the fact he should probably go check with Jinzi on the matter of concealing the presence of the Dragon Balls from the enemy. But while the possibility- and feasibility- of simply destroying the Dragon Balls was currently unknown to him, he knew- or at the very least, he trusted- that the simpler act of concealing them was definitely possible.
It was just a matter of figuring out
how.
With that purpose in mind, Kai set out to find their host.
