Dragonball M: A DBZ RPG Sign-Up and Discussion Thread.

To elaborate on those approximately nine Cleric games I've been a part of:

Codex: This was my first intro into PbP RPGs, where I played Kyle, the reincarnation of Hermes. I've gone over my issues with this character, but I think he can be a lot of fun to play once I reboot him in a future game.

SHR3: Maxana was a **** ton to play. My one (of many) regrets was not being able to interact with other characters early on due to not having the internet at home. She ended up being too clingy at the end, which ended up being to her detriment >_> That's all I'll say on that. Ramilia was a surprise, since I only intended on having her be a NPC, not a secondary PC. Since she became the latter, I wish I had fleshed out her backstory more. I didn't mention anything about her childhood (which I ended up revamping for Kasumi Yamamoto in Tami's game), or why she was so awkward and quirky. I really liked how they played off each other and had a blast playing both.

I wish, though, that I had expanded Ramilia's powerset into something other than generic DBZ-lite. Oh well, maybe next time.

The Grimlands: I think I was in this one. I honestly can't remember anything about or who I had written up to play.

Steamline Chronicles: I played renowned thief Jordan Shaw, aka Whisper in the Wind, who was a Gambit imitation. I really liked the game and the lore I had all prepared to unveil, but it just never came to be

Can't recall name of Sci-Fi/Urban adventure: I remember this one came around right after Sharkerbob's game. I intended on playing Belinda Callahan (I think that was her last name), a British mercenary. I'd like to bring her back one day.

Lost Lands: I played Dr. Monique Beaubois, a criminal pathologist with a deep hatred of politics and politicians. I believe there was at least one of those in the group or involved in some capacity, so that would have been fun to watch them butt heads.

SHR:R I've already detailed Magnus and Lexi, but this was my first time playing a leader. It was... interesting. It's unfortunate certain parties made Magnus reluctant to assert his authority out of aversion of giving himself a migraine, but once the chaff was removed, he handled it in stride. The highlight of my time playing him was throwing a monkey wrench into Cleric's Fallen Sentinels fight near the end of the game. That was awesome. I for sure plan on playing another Lindström and expanding on the lore a bit more and maybe toss in a few cameos since I now have the characters to do it.

Lost Sabers: This one fizzled out far too soon. Poor Latta will never become a Jedi now

Gehenna: I'm disappointed this one fizzled out too, but that's partially my fault. I lost interest, even though Carter had a really interesting story that I started to lay the groundwork for.

DBM: This is the first game where I've done so much extensive lore building early on. Usually I just make it up as I go along. Sarada was intended on being something of a mix between Saiyan saga Vegeta and Goku, the immensely arrogant, yet playful and naive Saiyan girl who would get into hijinx, then fight her way out of them. She ended up being something closer to Super-era Vegeta, still prideful, but much more level-headed than I intended on her being. I like her a lot and look forward to watching her ascend to her rightful place above the gods.

SHR 3: First attempt at a full length play-by-post. It was bad. No more words here. Shush you.

Steamline Chronicles: Emma Marie Darksmore. A foul-mouthed steamtech magician who drank to cope with an event that left her crippled so horribly she was effectively a steampunk Iron Man. Her lore was going places, too. When it sputtered out though it was around/just after, she'd made a pact with a Blood Mage. Fun fun.

SHR: Rebuild: Yin was great, a traveling doctor with a rather naive worldview that slowly lost her mind on Inspira a place that was basically the antithesis of what she believed (everyone can be good). She was also, likely, the strongest pacifist ever. Story progressed good, the game was fun, and in the end she became Rebuild's Death. No epilogue though.

Huh.

Lost Sabers: Eidolon was cool. Was ultimately going to become RoboWindu. Ended before that could happen.

Gehenna: Mayumi's died like ... three times now. Maybe one day she'll get a full-game.

Dragonball M: So far the best of the bunch, I've definitely put more work into it than I have in the past (not becuase I don't care, but becuase maybe too much). Like the direction it's heading, cast is good. And overall it seems to have the most potential.

Cthulhu looks forward to seeing it progress.

History:

Lettise was born the oldest of four children to the parentage of two working class saiyans. Growing up, she hated her parents and hated knowing that she was the child of two disappointments. From a young age, she strove to make sure she not only surpassed them in power, but completely overshadowed them. This determination fueled her years at the CTC, allowing her to grow to a power level of 515. When she left, she joined the army as a saiyan elite.

During an invasion of the planet Leaf, she met Guar, a fellow Elite with a power level of 800 at the time. She was impressed with his power and fighting ability. The two eventually had three children together, two daughters and one son. With the exception of the royal family, most saiyans don't believe in nuclear families. Marriage is never a consideration, as most saiyans die long before that becomes a consideration, or they are too focused on fighting. Lettise never had a hand in raising her children, preferring to leave that to the nurseries.

Still, despite her apathy toward her children, she appeared to care for them in some capacity. She often inquired of them at the CTC, keeping up with their progress and making suggestions to help them fulfill their potential. She took a relatively special interest in her middle child, whom she learned had the potential to surpass even Queen Becbaga, and then King Mato. When Sarada only graduated with a PL of 50, she was immensely disappointed.

She left for a mission with her life-mate the day after that disappointment and didn't return until a week later. When she did, her eldest daughter, Parsley, informed her that Sarada had stolen a ship and disappeared into the recesses of space. Lettise's first instinct was to find her daughter and bring her back, but something compelled her to let her remain in space.

Deep down, Lettise wanted to be proud of her children. She was extremely pleased with Parseley, whom many predicted would eventually challenge Mato for the throne and actually defeat him. Pinach, she wasn't sure about. He was still young and was steadily growing in power as he trained with his father. Sarada, on the other hand, she had the most hope for. The disappointment she felt in her was bitter. Perhaps, she felt, that was why she let her remain in space. Outwardly, she claimed it was because she felt ashamed at having such a weak daughter, but inwardly, it was because she hoped that wherever she ended up would make her stronger, so she could have a reason to be proud.
