Ok, when Cap gets his shield, Howard Stark says it's vibration absorbent.
Which still doesn't explain why only Mjolnir seems to react so weirdly with it. Nor does it prevent Vibranium in its various states from being damaged.
Thanos and Glaive damage Vision easily. Ultron gets slagged by lightning + Vision. Wanda rips Ultron's heart out through his shell. Klaw damages BP's shoulder (nanites heal it). Thanos chops the shield. BP scratches it.
Throughout every encounter, only the shield seems to push the force away, and even then /only/ with Mjolnir and not the plethora of other stuff it gets hit by.

just a quick word about the Thor's characterization in the MCU. maybe he can't be called cowardly per se but he did become dysfunctional to the point of barely being functional at all. he was pretty much living in denial of reality which is understandable given his loss but when even rocket who for all his bluster is a pretty sensitive guy slaps you and tells you to snap out of it there must be something wrong with you. the character of thor has been shitted and pissed over in trying to make him relatable to audiences rendering him as a comic buffoon in the process something in the vein of hagar the horrible.
anyway as regards to the fight thanos may be able to gain a upper hand but his lack of healing factor does put him at a severe disadvantage which could make it not possible to truly win a bout with DD unless he has kryptonite or he goes for the head.
