That Bermejo art sure is pretty in Absolute format though. Plus each story has its own book with their own extras at the end. It's a very slick package.
Speaking of, quick question to those out there with Absolute Green Arrow: Anyone else find the lettering to look kind of, I don't know, scratchy (I guess that's the best word for it)? Not sure if it's just my copy, or if that's just the result of the text and this particular lettering style being enlarged due to the increased dimensions of the book.
Thanks for help on this!
Help me understand the Waid thing w/DC regardless of what their professional relationship is like and what caused it to be that way.
Waid's Flash run is wildly popular. Flash has a hit TV show. Flash has a forthcoming movie. Flash, good Flash=money.
Why is DC halting what would be a no brainer infusion of a cashflow?
Does DC have to pay Waid some % of royalty on any reprints? If so, it can't be so large as to be 50/50 can it? Even still that's half going to Warners/DC's bottom line but I'd wager it's more even IF they have to pay Waid some reprint royalties.
It's mind boggling as I know it at present.
"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" - Optimus Prime
I'm all in for Waid's Flash in collected editions.
Couldn't help but get Madame Xanadu and Hitman in their tpbs. It was cheap and maybe someday I will upgrade to HCs if they get to them.
I loved Snyder's Swamp Thing, and plan on double dipping for the Deluxe Edition. For whatever their reason though, people can't seem to talk about Snyder's run without getting hung up on the "Rotworld" arc/crossover. Yes, it went on a bit too long, but that doesn't invalidate the quality of the series as a whole.
Ideally, they'll eventually deluxe Lemire's Animal Man as well, which would be a great companion book.
Demon was a heck of a run. So glad it's getting collected. This will be a rare tpb buy for me.
This run got better after Morrison left. And Millar's final arc is some of the best ST/Hellblazer ever written.
So agree. I loved his ST
Alan Moore talks more shit about DC than Waid does and look at the reprint and collected editions they publish of his work. I suspect DC doesn't want to publish Waid's stuff is because it's Wally West as the Flash and not Barry Allen.
Most of Alan Moore's works were already published before he started his anti-DC message. Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Killing Joke even his Superman and Swamp Thing are perennial best sellers for DC. Watchmen selling so well and for so long had the consequence of being the catalyst for Moore's beef with DC.
Waid's Flash won't be a Watchmen. It would probably do well, especially since it introduced a lot of the concepts the CW series is using to their advantage. I don't know why they don't release an omnibus. Waid and Didio hate each other, and I can see Danny Boy being a bully and trying to "hurt" people just because he can.
The ST issues that Millar co-writes with Morrison are actually the weakest part of the run, but since this tpb continues with the first five solo Millar issues leading into 150, I'd say it's well worth picking up. Millar's run is interesting in that it manages to get better by the issue and ups the shakes with every arc he produces. Also, his standalone issues are among the best single issues of all of ST, especially "Swamp Dog" and "Chester Williams: American Cop".
