It's a new cinematic universe, everyone! Remember how good the Universal monster movie universe did?
Yep... though to be fair I think Mowgii looks like a decent re-imagining of the Jungle Book and more faithful to the original book in aspects (no King Louie), it's more the fact that we have just had a Jungle Book adaption two years ago which bothers me. But I don't know what to think about this Wonderland/Neverland crossover... prequel... thing. Never mind I think there's about three or four Robin Hood movies in development. Hollywood clearly wants some cinematic universes of classic fictional characters (without resorting to League of Extraordinary Gentlemen anyway).
As hohum as Dracula Untold was, its a masterpiece compared with Van Helsing.
Why won't anyone ever touch Great Glass Elevator? Vermicious knids are out there, I just know it. We need a movie to spread the word.

So a young Willy Wonka movie and Joker stand alone are announced the same week. Hollywood didn’t learn a lesson from Solo. There are some things that no one was asking for and you can’t sell it to audiences even if the quality of the film isn’t actually bad.
There's two big problems with prequels.
The first is that when you start a movie, the main character hasn't developed that much. They do that over the course of the film, eventually turning into the cool character you know them to be. Prequels have to rewind that even further so they aren't even as cool as they were at the start of the movie you knew them from.
The second is that we already know how they're going to end.
Prequels also have the downside in that they explain the watermelon

I assume if the Depp movie had done better they should have made it, as they did with Alice Through The Looking Glass. But given it's basically Willy Wonka does Alien, I'm surprised it hasn't ever happened before...
I think a Minpins live action movie is inevitable in the next few years, given the tech to make tiny people would be easy now...
