So far, I don't see a Byrne variant cover for this book. He was there in 1986, for the big revamp of superman Time was he would have been guaranteed the1980s cover slot.
I don't think Byrne is on good terms with DC, hence his absence. Same reason Waid doesn't have anything to do with this.

"They can be a great people Kal-El, they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have sent them you. My only son." - Jor-El
"Never assign to malice what is adequately explained by stupidity or ignorance."
"Great stories will always return to their original forms"
"Nobody is more dangerous than he who imagines himself pure in heart; for his purity, by definition, is unassailable." James Baldwin
Midtown Comics EXCLUSIVE Oliver Coipel variant cover
I really wish they would show us what this looks like. I'm really tempted.
Marvel Pull - Fantastic Four, The Immortal Hulk
DC Pull - The Green Lantern, Goddess Mode
Indie Pull - The Wrong Earth, High Heaven
I wanna see.....
I also can imagine the announcement of a 6 issue miniseries written by an ex Marvel comics superstar that is being touted as a redefinition of Superman called " Man of Steel" with the same logo used on his series may just guarantee that DiDio, Lee, Johns and Bendis are officially off Byrne's Christmas card list, if they ever were on said list. I'm surprised he hasn't publicly cried plagerism since all of this was announced. As far as I'm aware he's uncharacteristically quiet about these recent developments
When it comes to comics, one person's "fan-service" is another persons personal cannon. So by definition it's ALL fan service. Aren't we ALL fans?
SUPERMAN is the greatest fictional character ever created.
Indeed, probably has to be one of the best ways to annoy him, if he cares. I don't really think he gets all that loud about it anyway. I mean I never see interviews so much as get his feedback by lurking his forum.
Alex Ross is a surprise though. I wouldn't have guessed he was on bad terms to the point where he wouldn't draw something like this.
Marvel Pull - Fantastic Four, The Immortal Hulk
DC Pull - The Green Lantern, Goddess Mode
Indie Pull - The Wrong Earth, High Heaven
The Fabok cover is my favorite but it’s a retailer exclusive. I really wish it was one of the regular varients. Maybe I can find a poster or print of the image. It’s really beautiful. Superman, the symbol of hope and justice, shinning through the darkness and gloom.
Not a cover for Action 1000, but Sean Phillips (currently drawing variants for The Hellblazer) mentions a Superman 1000 month in the replies to this tweet, making me think the rest of the DC's variants or at least some for the month of 1000 will be Superman themed.

Officially put in my pre-order for the Steve Rude and Mike Allred covers. I don't normally ever do these, but if any comic can, it's Action #1000. Still hoping for a special Alex Ross cover.
