It's disgusting. It's sad that these people so in need are being denied. Pets are an incredible anchor for people dealing with depression and suicidal thoughts.

I deal with depression, and my dog is a huge help for me. I don't have suicidal thoughts, but just having to walk him is a big lift for me. It gets me out of the house when I otherwise might not. That exercise is good for both of us, and my mental well being. Seeing this program ended really upsets me.

Does anyone know of any similar non government programs in existence that could be donated to? (Edit: It seems there are many alternatives. I'll look into these and report back if anyone is interested.)

(I'd like to see some Batman fans defend this move. )

No one should defend this move, either from the left or right unless they can say their family was all mauled to death by service dogs, which I find pretty improbable.

Technically, Moore isn't a pedophile.

There are two issues with that terminology in this case. Pedophilia refers to a sexual attraction towards pre-pubescent children, and that isn't what Moore's accused of.

In addition, there's also the point made by Brian D. Earp of Yale's Program in Ethics and Health Policy that we should encourage pedophiles who do not act on their instincts to seek help and counseling, and that referring to Moore as a pedophile equates them with people who do actually commit sexual assault on minors. Both are wrong, but one is more so.

Accused "Child molester" and "kiddie fiddler" remain accurate terms for Moore.

I just don't think I've ever widely heard "pedophile" used to describe people that specifically are attracted to children but don't molest them. It's always used to describe the general attraction to children, whether a crime is committed or not. Plus, "pedophile" is a really strong word with a lot of stigma attached to it, and that should be used to hit child molesters as hard as possible. For example, "Roy Moore is a pedo piece of shit". That's how it should go.

That said, I do understand that some people are...troubled...and just looking for help. I do hope they get that help, with minimal trouble or stigma, there should be a better word for it though. Heck, I'm deep enough into the anime community that I deal with Lolicons all the time, those guys own it and are completely harmless. Even if they have shit taste, no I don't want to watch your trash little sister anime, it's weird.

There's some good stuff out there, but the fetishes stuff often doesn't advertise what it is. Meaning that you can get stuff you won't be able to stand too easily. If the name Miyazaki is on it then it's probably safe, although I can't speak for Lupin the Third. Masumune Shirow of Ghost in the Shell has always run close to a porn artist, so outside of that one thing expect raciness.

You are probably good sticking to the stuff on Netflix since they are going for more generally accessible anime, but that's not assured. The Fate/ series comes from a visual erotic novel, for example.

Hahaha, hilarious. You're just walking along in a normal show, when suddenly-BAM!-tentacle rape. Then nobody ever brings it up again. Eventually you just sort of go numb to Japan's weirdness. Scarily enough, that might have been the family friendly stuff, the real fetish trash is usually totally upfront about it.

If you're interested in newer anime, try Anime Chart. They usually have up categories to tell you the type of show it is. If it says echo, avoid. That's the panty flashing thing. Also the image of the cover image should tell you a lot about the show at a glance.
