Favorite Live Action General Zod

It has to be Terence Stamp. We probably wouldn't be talking about Zod if it wasn't for Stamp's role in the Superman movies. But to tell the truth, when I first saw Stamp in those movies he didn't impress me much. It was only later, when I started to have an appreciation for his body of work, that I came around to thinking more highly of his Zod.

Colin Salmon's Zod deserves recognition for being the most developed version of the character in live action yet. And we still have more of his story to discover. The other Zods spend most of their time being angry and yelling at people--Stamp's Zod seethes with hate where Shannon's rants uncontrollably.

On the other hand, I never wanted to have sympathy for General Zod. Some bad guys are best when they don't have a back story, then you can boo them unreservedly. With the Salmon Zod, it's hard to hate the guy because there are so many levels to his character. That's fine for KRYPTON, but I don't need Zod to be an anti-hero.

Of Those Listed- Definitely Terrence Stamp.

Also they should be listed but arent- Callum Blue and Michael Rosenbaum both played him on Smallville- Technically Blue played Major Zod but early scripts called him General, as for Rosenbaum, He spent two eps as Zod when Lex was possessed at the end of season 5 and beginning of Season 6

I was surprised Callum Blue wasn't on the list as he was such a big part of Smallville season 9. The person who made the list never watched Smallville? I guess he is relegated to other.

I'm actually interested in checking out the Zod from the Krypton series (which I haven't seen) any thoughts on that one?

Before Terrence Stamp,Zod was basically some generic bald guy in a generals uniform and hat. After Stamp, nearly every version that followed was evocative of his version. Heck, one could argue even Shannon's Zod took a cue from Stamp's Zod when he grew the goatee later in MOS.

I haven't watched all of Krypton yet,so I can't give an assessment of that version. Although from what I've seen I'm impressed.

For me my fave kind of villains are those I love to hate. And I prefer when they have some kind of motivation for the things they do. Stamp Zod was just evil. Shannon wanted to make sure his race and planet continued, and Salmon Zod is a master manipulator and very cunning. You can have a conversation with him and that's fun. He's already the most interesting for me so far. Hope the show continues to make him this enigmatic.

I wasn't a fan. Didn't think it was worth mentioning by name, so Other. It seems most weren't impressed either by the lack of votes.

You are really missing out on the best DC show this year. Colin Salmon impresses in the role so far.

Wow! I just finished KRYPTON and it definitely has the most epic and successful Zod depicted in Live Action. Very complex characterization and a great thesp portraying him in sci-fi veteran in Collin Salmon

Oh man the poll has ended!

I choose Michael Shannon. I love Terrence Stamp. He was amazing as General Zod. And i feel his Zod was more entertaining to watch.

But Michael Shannon gave a good performance and his character had more depth. Not as memorable as Terrence's but i like him more. Just a bit more.
