Unless you're talking about Birds of Prey, which would be a little off the mark seeing as that's what the new Birds of Prey comic is for, the sequel to Suicide Squad isn't coming out for two years, and was of course even further away when the previous series ended at #50. It seems pretty clear that they were aiming for a much quicker turnaround on the new #1, liking tying in with the end of Heroes in Crisis.

What I mean is that, if this exact comic had been announced when the previous series ended at #50, it would've been a little unclear just what about this warrants a relaunch

SS is in active production and getting entertainment coverage. With this comic likely launching in December, it will have been a year long since the movie and the trades could be marketed properly.

Who do you think the white haired lady is? Could she be Magpie?

And the guy with the sword? Cavalier?

I hope they really imbrace the macabre near-sadistic concept of the Squad. The whole point of the book is that your protagonists might die an unexpected death at any moment. It's a thriller.
Otherwise they are a c-list justice league with government conspiracy plot threads. Which is fairly boring.

    Roster seem rather blah.

They are expendable. Like the original squad. If they were a list villains, killing them off would be difficult.
Making them characters you would care about will be a challenge. But that's the nature of the suicide squad as a concept.

For expendable characters Harley and Deadshot seem to be at the center of every incarnation these days. Even King Shark tends to pop up quite a bit.

Agreed. I was hoping for some fan favorites, but it's just two of the more popular characters and a bunch of new guys. Oh and King Shark, I never got his appeal.

I wish they had kept Harley to BoP, since I hate when characters are in more than one team at a time. Give some exposure to other heroes too! And I hope Waller still appears, she's the reason I love the Squad so much and why Ostrander's run worked so well. In an expendable cast, we need a strong central figure whose constant survival isn't a cop-out like the popular members'.

Still, I wish Bronze Tiger was included.
I wanted him included but I don't want him dying and I feel like he's done with the team.

    She really has.

Tom Taylor is good, but at this point anything with Harley in it already has an uphill climb to get me to buy it. Taylor did well with her in Injustice, but even in that she was overused.

To their credit, Breaking Glass is a one-off original book for DC Ink and not a new series, and she's not the focal point of White Knight.

It seems like they're going the route with her that Marvel did with Deadpool. One ongoing and a continual series of minis basically equating a second ongoing. The only problem with that is that after a few years of it people got really tired of Deadpool books and sales started to tank, and DC seems to have forgot that.

They have to give Floyd his full mask back - that's an awesome iconic look.

It sounds like Taylor's their "hero death porn" go-to guy but now he gets to do it in-universe. Did someone say there's no Waller in this book? That's a real turn-off and I am not a big fan of Harley. Still, I might give it a shot if reviews are at all positive.

I guess it's unfair to judge a book by its cover, but seeing Harely at the forefront tells me to stay far away from this iteration of the squad. I will predict that Zebra Man will buy it on the first mission.

I like Tom Taylor and I LOVE Bruno Redondo (VERY underrated artist), but if Harley is on the team again, I'll pass...

Is Harley really that much of a draw though? She’s selling below Flash, Green Lantern, Superman, and Wonder Woman, but you don’t see them EVERYWHERE. Movies don’t move comic sales.
It's the Dynamic Duo! Batman and Robin!... and Red Robin and Red Hood and Nightwing and Batwoman and Batgirl and Orphan and Spoiler and Bluebird and Lark and Gotham Girl and Talon and Batwing and Huntress and Azreal and Flamebird and Batcow?

Since when could just anybody do what we trained to do? It makes it all dumb instead of special. Like it doesn't matter anymore.
