That is very true. I must say that for a while no one was saying to the bad ones to knock it off. Things said by the bad ones that should not be tolerated in real life, in person, were allowed and seemed to be applauded here before. No more. And that is good!

Unfortunately, there are men who, for years, have been comfortable in their role as 'target audience'. For many of these people, there's a lot of low self-esteem, so they transfer their feelings of worth to the things they like. That's why, for instance, someone might react inappropriately to the suggestion that you don't like the Transformers, or if a writer changes the status quo in Green Lantern.
I can understand some people are not comfortable or not used to women or in general different types of people. Men and boys being the target audience of comics for a long time, causing them to feel like they own it, combined with that discomfort probably caused the events which led to the new CBR.

Love of things and debate is great. A big reason I am here is because I have fun interacting with people around the world and have some things in common. Like comics and movies and music, etc.

There was some joker before the CBR Brand New Day who suggested that if you don't buy your comics as single issues (i.e. you get tpbs instead), you're not a Real Fan.

And then now there is the way of digital comics, which I may be going with soon.

After forty years you must be very attached to certain titles or characters who you read about for a long time!

Not necessarily. I grew up reading mostly DC Comics, new (at the time, so 1970s) and old stories, in B&W reprint albums. But the DC stuff these days is just ghastly, so I don't worry about it. There's a lot of Marvel titles I'm really enjoying right now, and I discovered independent comics in my teens, during the independent boom of the late 80s, so I'll give anything a go.

Right now I'm loving the living hell out of the PDF versions of about 1000 British comics that I've managed to get hold of.

Tablets really have made digital comics a much more pleasant and viable reading experience.

Cool! Which Marvel titles do you read now?

That is one reason I may switch over to digital. I don't like using the computer or phone to read comics, but enjoy reading on tablets.

    Hawkeye
    Daredevil
    Amazing/Superior/Amazing Spider-Man
    All-New and Uncanny X-Men
    Thor: God Of Thunder
Some Avengers stuff here and there, although I'm not following any title(s) regularly right now
Miracleman (not really a Marvel comic, but they're publishing the reprints, so...)

I'm also really digging Saga, Atomic Robo, Sweet Tooth, Manhattan Projects, among others.

I still much prefer print, but a tablet is better than nothing. Although I can only read a couple of comics at a time on my iPad before I have to stop. My old eyes can't cope with the slightly reduced text size for too long.

Very cool that you are able to read several books!

I try to branch out sometimes but I end up sticking with the X-Men lines.

If it is usually available then maybe you should stay with the TPBs. Better for your eyes!

    Sharing my dinner with you

This is my first experience with Okinawan food. Goya chanpuru. I never tried the goya or bitter melon until tonight... its a great dish!

Is there a food thread somewhere?

There was a 'Food Porn' thread before the Brand New Day, but i don't think it's been started up again since the reboot.

    Morning people.

how does one go about using the ignore feature?
    What have I always believed?
That, on the whole, and by and large, if a man lived properly, not according to what any priests said, but according to what seemed decent and honest inside, then it would, in the end, more or less, turn out all right.
