    Default DC comic recommendations?

Which dc comics should I read?
What is the jumping point for those comics?
There are so many dc comics out there so I am kind of at a loss.
Will be glad to have some recommendations.

It depends how deep you wanna go into it and how intimidated you get by all the reading material. If you really want to know what’s going on in the current dc universe and the reason for its current state I’d recommend :
    1 flashpoint
2 new 52 justice league series by Geoff Johns
    3 Dc Universe Rebirth
5 Action comics first rebirth arc
    6 The Oz effect
    7 The Button story arc
And that will bring you to the current
8 Doomsday Clock (make sure you’ve read Watchmen first)

If you just want to casually read and enjoy some new stories and aren’t interested in getting into all that stuff just pick up any rebirth title
The way comics work though is that a lot of stories are built upon years of established continuity
So its kinda intimidating to just jump in. However, you can always just jump into the start of a new story and do some research online if there’s anything you don’t understand. I hope that's helpful

I would start with your favorite characters. If you've never read comics before, I would recommend you go with classics in Trade Paperback format. This way you dig deeper into a character you like and are guaranteed a quality read. If you can tell us who you like and what kind of stories you like there are plenty of stories to recommend.

There are some ongoing comics you should be able to jump onto, but for a newb, I always recommend classics first. When you tell us your favorites though we can recommend both.

Usually, when there's a new writer. Sometimes they start their own story arc and supporting cast while ignoring what came before.

If you are just looking to get into it I'd say just pick the character you like and start with their latest #1.

If you want to dive into some wilder storytelling I'd say go with Green Lantern Mosaic.
THE SIGNAL (Duke Thomas) is DC's secret shonen protagonist so I made him a fandom wiki

also, check out "The Signal Tape" a Duke Thomas fan project.

    currently following:
    • DC: Red Hood: The Hill
    • Marvel: TBD
    • Manga (Shonen/Seinen): One Piece, My Hero, Dandadan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kaiju No. 8, Reincarnation of The Veteran Soldier, Oblivion Rouge, ORDEAL, The Breaker: Eternal Force

Are you interested in sampling the best from DC's vast history or are you just interested in the "now"?

Superman just began with a new writer in Brian Michael Bendis so picking up the new Superman series from #1 and Action Comics from #1001 might be an easy way to go.

Otherwise, just pick your favorite DC characters and begin at the next story arc.

For classics, perhaps get a copy of DC's Essential Reading giveaway comic from your comic store. It details the best of their back catalog of trade paperbacks.

Regarding "Green Lantern Mosaic" mentioned above, you should know that it was written by a pedophile, so factor that in to your buying decision.

I don't think the current recommendations in this thread are any good so far. Execpt maybe for "The Oz Effect".

The latest reboot was New52 in 2011. It is a great starting point for Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Nightwing and Harley Quinn.

For Superman "The Oz Effect" is a nice starting point.

For Green Lantern, the current Hal Jordan (that started in 2016) is not bad, even if it's a bit hard to get into because lots of things have happened. But as you read, every missing element will get mentioned and you'll know what happened. Or you can read the Geoff Johns Arc that began in 2005.

For Batman it's complex. I'd recommand to start with older books:
    Year One, then
The Long Halloween and Dark Victory,
then Robin Year One and Batgirl Year One,
then The Killing Joke, then Death in the Familly,
then Vengeance of Bane (included in the Knightfall I think),
then Knightfall Saga (it's interresting but long, you can skip if you want),
then No Man's Land Saga (also very long),
    then Hush,
then Grant Morrison's run (including the 2 Batman Inc. runs),
    then Batman & Robin New52,
then Batman New52 (not so good, but read at least, Court of Owls and Night of the Owls),
    then Batman Rebirth.

To finish for Justice League, it's complexe, but the current serie is Bad. I would recommand to read olny the big events that go as follows:
    Crisis on Infinit Earths,
    Legends,
    Identity Crisis,
    Infinit Crisis,
    52 (juste because it's excellent),
    Final Crisis,
    Flashpoint,
    Trinity War,
    Forever Evil,
    Darkseid War (not that good),
    Rebirth,
Doomsday Clock (I would recommand to read The Watchmen before this).

    With all this, have fun.

There are many other gread read that can be read alone:
    The Watchmen,
    The Dark Knight Returns,
    Superman: Red Son,
    DC: The New Frontier.

Finally if you're not into Super-heroes, you can read some vertigo series:
100 Bullets (some say the Best crime fiction in any medium),
    DMZ,
    Fables,
Hellblazer (witht he popullar John Constantine - read from start),
    Northlanders,
Preacher (yes the same one as the Tv Show),
    Punk Rock Jesus,
    The Sandman (by Neil Gaiman),
    Sweet Tooth,
    Transmetroplitan (I love this serie),
    V for Vendetta,
    Y: The Last Man.

=> look for descriptions of these series and pick the one that pleases you !

    Any ways, Enjoy

One of the more consistent series since the Rebirth initiative, and consistently good, has been Red Hood and the Outlaws.

Prior to Rebirth, I've heard mixed reviews on. But with Rebirth, its the black sheep of the Bat (Jason Todd), Wonder (Artemis), and Super (clone Bizarro) families end up on a team.

A good, straight up fun series, has been Super Sons. In short, the son of Batman (Damian Wayne) and son of Superman (Jon Kent) team up. A lot of fun adventures with the two kids really emulating their fathers, but at younger ages.

The new Hawkman series by Venditti and Hitch has been stellar so far and is new-reader friendly, too. Better still, it's only 5 issues in, so you shouldn't have any trouble tracking down the first few issues. If you've even a passing interest in the character, I'd say check it out.
Batman: I need your help finding a man named Vulko.
Hawkman: You want him dead or alive?
