Default Why aren't Thanos and Darkseid considered Skyfathers?

I guess this is a three - fold question.

    A. Who is indisputably (or at least widely) considered to be a Skyfather level being? Not just from the Big Two publishers.

    B. What feats are widely accepted as qualifying for Skyfather (Or Skymother ... or Skyparent) levels of power?

    C. Which of those specific feats are Thanos and Darkseid each lacking?

Skyfather is a specific term to refer to "head of godly pantheon". And THESE beings are generally in canon considered to be similar in power-level. We don't have awesome feats for most of them, though. Marvel Odin has generally the most and the best. And HIS feats include multi-galaxy busting as a side effect of fighting, bringing a losing-but-not-just-ignored fight to a non-starving Galactus and treating Thanos like an annoying but still very treatable skin infection.

Many other skyfathers (looking at you, Zeus) and "skyfather-level" (The Dorm, Cytorrak, Shuma Gorath, blah blah) beings get that level by displayed feats (The Dorm) or by presenting themselves as both credible threats and as avowed "equals" to other beings at that level (Zeus, etc.).

Thanos and Darkseid just don't operate on that power level. Thanos, without an explicit external powerup, gets trivially owned by Odin, as in, 10 out of 10, with no chance at all of a different outcome.

For the record, looking at Big’s list, The Dorm =/= Shuma Gorath.

The Dorm would involuntarily drop a furnace-hot flaming bag of poop out the back of his ostentatious costume if Shuma Gorath dropped by for chips and dips.

As would Odin, and Zeus, and Cytorrak(?)

(Also Dormammu, Cytorrak and co are usually referred to as Dimensional Lords instead of Skyfathers correct?)

Overall Skyfather is like Streetleveler, more a classification by habits and habitat than pure power, but it is convenient shorthand.

    That's what I thought, too.

Though, I wonder, if Skyfathers were a real thing in the DCU, would Darkseid want that title? He commands a pantheon of gods himself (rather, that's how the New Gods see themselves), but he's always aiming higher, almost like DCAU Luthor (I think?) asking why would he want to be president and get a pay cut?

Sky Father is a term of power level based on how you can affect the over all cosmos. Furnace face and Shuma count as their power affects a lot of stuff. ( Swuiddy for example absorbed his universe into himself. Furnace face has many dimensions under belt so could stand a chance against Odin. As classic Odin could affect galaxies in battles and make Galaxtus notice him to a degree.)

Interestingly enough, when Thanos was first introduced, his father Mentor was revealed to be the brother of Zeus.

So Thanos was the son of the brother of a Skyfather.... which just really makes me think of that Spaceballs scene.

No no, you're thinking of Zuras the eternal, who is Mentor's brother. Who only sometimes pretended to be Zeus and otherwise had an extremely samey sounding name. But is a totally different guy than actual Zeus.

    Comics everybody!

Also both Zuras and Zeus have red hair and beards in Marvel and favour the colour green. Also they are both the heads of collections of powerful superbeings and have been worshipped as gods.

How you could confuse them is completely beyond me.

Fortunately, DC makes this look completely reasonable by having the Zeus that Wonder woman worships bring completely different from Zeus that provides the Z in SHAZAM.

Isn't xjrrent Thanos above Skyfather level?
New 52 Darkseid was intended to be Sky father level too, although the best feat I know is him not getting koed by a 52 earth combined level punch.

Sky father feat wise is capable of galaxy spanning power and immune to most estoric, correct?

Skyfather feat wise is basically just on the edge of that kind of power, thereabouts, depending on how much stock you put into some stuff Odin has done.

Neither current Thanos or Darkseid has really shown themselves to be more powerful than say Odin

Though if the current Thanos thing ends up being canon, we have a dude that killed Galactus with his own hands at some later point in his career

As long as it's considered the future right now, well...

With that said, eesh, killed Galactus with his own hands? Did he get a power up or something?
